What do you cook your pancakes on?

My Mom bought me a fold up waffle iron/griddle combo about 12 years ago and it is still going strong. One side makes waffles and the other side is flat which is great for making pancakes. When I am not using it it folds up for easy storage in a cabinet.

This. But mine is 33 years old. It makes the BEST grilled cheese sandwiches, too. Put on the flat sides and close it up. Yummy!

I bought an electric Little Griddle at Kohls. (that's the actual name) I cooks about 4 pancakes or 4 grilled cheeses at a time. I used a coupon-couldn't have paid more that $25 for it. DH loves it, and it fits in my cabinet so it's easy to pull out.

Ditto! I always make a double batch and freeze the left overs. Pancakes freeze really well, I just defrost in the nuke box for 1 minute then finish in the toaster oven.

Me too ~ but I finish them in a regular toaster. I need to make some more later today. *I also add syrup to the batter - my kids eat them like toast.

Electric griddle here too! Actually we have 2 griddles now. We made the mistake of using it for omelets and sausage one morning and the next time we went to use it for pancakes they stuck something terrible. So now we have one for PANCAKES ONLY and one for anything else.

We also have one of the small square waffle/griddle makers that my MIL got as a wedding present 40+ years ago! She wanted to throw it out but my DH brought it home, SOS'd the thing, threw the plates in the dishwasher and it's as good as new. We only use the waffle side and it makes the BEST waffles ever.

Dangit. Now I want waffles. :rotfl:

OT - but have you all seen http://www.jimspancakes.com/ ? I am inspired to make some fun ones for my kids. Think all I can manage is some flowers - but that alone will thrill my DD6!

OMG I am impressed! I can't even make flower ones. DD would love it and die if i cuold make a BIRDHOUSE!

to continue on topic i use a frying pan on the stove top.

I was just going to post about re-:thumbsup2seasoning.... you can rub a little oil on your pans too after cleanings....helps....my mom has Wagner cast iron skillets that are 50+ yrs old and are fantastic. Wagners are collectors items. :)

reseasoning:

Using clean paper towels, apply lard, oil or bacon fat to every bit of the surface of the pan. Make sure the entire surface is coated. Spread a large sheet of foil on the rack in your oven, set the skillet upside down on the foil, and turn the oven heat to 350 degrees F. Bake the skillet for at least an hour---this is called "seasoning" the cast iron.

I just use a cheap nonstick square "griddle pan" (it goes on the stove, has a handle, etc.) These can be bought for cheap at Target. They don't last forever, but then again, they are only $15-20. When the "nonstick" starts to scratch off, I toss it and buy a new one.

I don't have the counter space for an electric griddle.

My kids eat "silver dollar" style pancakes and I can cook 9 at a time on the pan I have, or four pieces of french toast. That's enough to feed the kids while I make a second batch for myself. :thumbsup2

I have one of those cast iron grill/griddle combo pans too! It is a PITA to wash. However, mine is cast iron with a nonstick coating, so it can go in the dishwasher. That's the best way to clean mine...it's not rusted or anything. I only use the "grill" side, not the flat side, as the flat side's surface is sort of messed up from the gas stove.
