What do you cook in your room for dinner? (and grill question too)

This year when we go we are going to shop for in room dinners for 2 nights (my DS is 3, so we usually have to have a couple of early back to the room nights) so, I really have no idea - we have stayed at OKW a bunch of times, but, usually dont do much cooking except for breakfast.

Have you used the grills there? Where are they? Are there picnic tables near them? Charcoal? We grilled once when we stayed at BCV and it was kind of a hassle.

Ok - enough of my babbling, back to my original question - what do YOU cook for dinner at OKW?

TIA

Stouffer's "Grandma's Chicken & Rice" and a Salad
Frozen Pizza
Chicken Ceaser Salad & Biscuits
Chicken Florentine (baked chicken with spinach & sauteed mushrooms)

We've also only done frozen dinners, it's just easier and you don't have to worry about forgetting any ingredients.

We tend to cook what we'd typically eat at home - baked chicken, a salad, veggies, etc. Other days just light things like sandwiches. We try to balance some nice meals in the parks with some cost-saving meals in the resort room.

Regardless, we DO try and fix things that aren't too time-consuming since we don't want to take away from any Disney time!

If you're driving, bring a crock pot and make an all-day stew. It will be waiting for you when you get back from the parks.

For at least one of our meals, we like to bake big potatoes and top them with cheese, sour cream and black olives. Very inexpensive and very filling!

pasta pronto
mac n cheese
tuna salad
PB&J (ok, this one doesn't require cooking)
ramen noodles
frozen dinners
betty crocker mashed potatoes
hot dogs
hamburgers

have fun!

We usually have the "salad in a bag" stuff around and potatos, and fozen veggies. We really just cook like we do at home (when we aren't out at a restaurant). It never takes long to prepare dinner at home, and I just do the same thing at OKW.

We have used the grills by the pools, but like you said, it's a hassle. We usually just make chops or steaks under the broiler in the oven.

We also cook meals in just like home. We buy the bag salad and add what we like, i.e., cukes, celery, etc. Also, do baked potatoes or rice. Chicken, is one of the easier meals. I usually put it in the pyrex dish in the morning and leave it marinating in Italian dressing and put it in the fridge, then when we come home, I just drain the dressing, and bake it. Another easy meal is to buy one of the roasted whole chickens and have it with rice and salad. Pasta and sauce is another alternative. Again, we do several meals in, basically the same way we do them at home. Hope this helps.

Our favorite to cook is Tacos! Just get one of the Dinners and get veggies from the store saladbar!

We had frozen pasta, frozen chicken, instant rice, side dish pasta, canned soup and steak (seasoned and cooked in the microwave for 5 minutes, yum!)

Thanks for the link, Mrs. Snowgod! That is one of my all time favorite threads!!:D

just for fun cause I never would eat that stuff...

I just started cooking out of Rachel Ray's cookbooks. 30 minutes or less meal. They are awesome with a lot of flavor. I think, they'd be easy to make on a trip especially for those gourmet types. And, they really take 30 minutes and use a lot of convenience type foods.

Also, already mentioned are my all time favorites tacos. I like to make chicken tacos too.

I bring some "home cooked" meals that I prepared at home and then froze in the ice chest. So far I've got spaghetti and meat sause, red beans and rice, and chili frozen and ready to go on our trip in a couple of weeks. Just thaw (it usually thaws some on the trip) and heat in the microwave! And then it really is "home cooking". It also gives me a sense of "packing" when we prepare things for our trip. I supplement with other items from our grocery store stop, salad, veggies, bread, etc.

Enjoy your trip!

As we drive to WDW, it's not hard to make meals ahead of time and
place in an ice chest for safe storage. (Lasagna, Red Beans & Rice,
Baked Macaroni, etc.)

We ordered pizza from Papa Johns and had a "pizza party" by the pool (BCV) - I had an ice chest with drinks and salad. Yum and Fun. Sandie
