What do you bring to the airport for dinner?

I have no idea why they wouldn't stay with family if they had some in the area. I'm guessing that they thought they would shame the airline by staying put. Whoever gave them those buddy passes is probably going to be in hot water, though.

When you fly on buddy passes, you are at the absolute bottom of the standby list. Getting 4 open seats on the same flight out of a major airport during peak vacation season takes a while. I don't know why they didn't split up.

Yeah...I did buddy passes for one of my trips, when I was back in the States, a few weeks ago. We finally got on the fourth flight we tried for (after waiting around in the airport for 12 hours) and just barely, since we were 3 people trying to travel together. Our only opportunity to split up was one seat which would have left one of us behind with a 2 year old. Too bad he wasn't old enough to fly on his own, because then DH and I could have sent him to Grandma and rented a car for a little adult only road trip! If it hadn't been an airline that traveled nonstop from where I was to where I was going, there's no way I would have attempted it. Luckily the Phoenix airport has free wifi and lots of places to plug things in. As a bonus, we found one of the best milkshakes I've ever had a place near our last gate!

Chances are they didn't understand the process, but you would think after their bad experience getting there, they would have realized that it wasn't worth it on the way back. I'd much rather ask for a little help from family than take it from strangers. Though my family is awesome enough that I know I'd never have to ask. If they weren't that awesome, it probably wouldn't bother me if I didn't get to see them for 6 years.

My biggest question is how do two adults have the TIME to sit around in an airport for that long?

I was wondering that, too. Do they not have jobs to get back to?

How in the heck have I missed this area for so long? This place is surreal :rotfl:

There are things thunk here I'd have never even thought to think about.
