I've set a budget for our vacation and I don't want to go over $3200 that's w/ flights and all. We are normally no more than $600 out of pocket for flights. I had downgraded from WL to ASMu but now I'm considering a split stay.

The ASMu package that we have now is for $2,492.28 that's w/ DDP & water parks. 6 nights & 7 day base tickets.

The split stay between ASMu & WL would be:
ASMu w/ DDP for 3 nights w/ 7 day base tickets $1548.01
WL room only for 3 nights $760.00
total would be: 2308.01

I checked into moderates w/ DDP and it's around $2650 & I really want to try the WL but I'd at least like to have DDP for a portion of our stay.

If I were choosing, I'd go with the split stay and use the DDP on the last 3 nights at WL. We like to go to the more deluxe resort at the end of the trip. Have a great time!!!

Why not put DDP on the WL portion as well? Are you planning to only eat CS type food for those last few days?

WL is great and such a fun experience. I would definately keep the WL in the mix.

Next on my wish list is WL too, so I voted for the split stay. If you can swing it, Id go for it...if only for 1 or 2 nights, maybe not, but 3 nights is still plenty of time to get settled in =)

I think they may be doing it this way to avoid having to purchase the one day ticket that must accompany the DDP. Am I correct, OP?

I am totally in favor of the split stay! And I would stick with WL last - I truly think you will love the experience and may not want to leave if you do it first!

That is exactly why I'm not adding DDP to WL. I want to keep WL for the last part of our vacation since we'll be stepping up in accomodations. If free dining comes out I priced everything and I will $150 cheaper if free dining comes out even w/ the extra 1 day base for the WL side.

I talked to DH and he's all for it. I will call Disney tomorrow and set it all up! I'm excited!

And I said I wasn't going to do this again. I did tell DH that I wouldn't call Disney tomorrow and that I would think about it for a couple of weeks because I want to make sure it's the right thing to do.

I'm thinking about it because I may just give into the Polynesian for 3 days. But that is something I'll have to think about with those rates.

Dump the DDP and just take a day off of your trip and spend it all at WL. You will save money and still have lots of pixie dust time.

I would stay put, especially since you could get the DDP for your full stay. DH had a mediocre experience at WL and we did NOT feel that the Deluxe was worth the price. We will be sticking with moderates from now on.
