What do we know about Satu'li Canteen?

Definitely excited for the news today about the opening of Pandora. We're planning on being there the day after it opens. What can anyone tell me about Satu'li Canteen? Any idea what type of food? When can we expect to be able to make reservations?

At this point, no one knows anything. It's a restaurant. No one even knows if it's QS or TS or what kind of food.

So it may never take reservations, because it may yet be QS.

We know nothing.

My response may be better suited for the Rumor Threads:

-- Flame Tree BBQ has been renovated.
-- Harambe Market opened after Pandora was under construction.
-- Tiffin's is a Signature.
-- Yak & Yeti and Rainforest table service are not operated by Disney.
-- Pizzafari & Restaurantosaurus, etc. are Qwik Service.

In my opinion, what type of restaurant does AK need most - some type of table service that is not (likely) another Signature.

So, if I were a betting man and/or going to speculate - I am going to guess that it will be a QS place that operates like the table service offered at Be Our Guest.....it might also be a Cafeteria-style place like Sunshine Seasons.....but given Disney's desire to increase 'guest spending', I still think some type of Table Service.

To reiterate, I offer a definitive, "I have no idea."

UPDATED on February 10: According to comments by Josh at EasyWdw - the new restaurant will be Qwik Serve. However, I'm still betting that it's a combination like Be Our Guest.

If you look at this I'm assuming it's a buffet style table service, just don't know anything else. Supposedly it will open with Pandora on May 27th but there don't seem to be any other details.

No clue here either, but interested for sure. My total guess is it will be a QS because they just finished opening up Tiffins which is right at the entrance to Pandora, so I'm just not seeing the need for another TS in that area. That being said, Tiffins is signature, so maybe a 1 TS meal? I'll go back to my original statement, I have no clue.

I had thought it would be a QS (don't know why - maybe I misread something somewhere?) - I would definitely have to change dinner plans if this turns out to be a TS!

That could easily be counter service seating as well, with one or more stations selling food. With a name like "canteen", I would expect counter service, personally. It doesn't evoke the idea of wait staff.

Skipper Canteen is TS. :confused3

All of this. It would seem a good opportunity for a TS/ROL dining package. Were the only places that offered it for JB Tusker and Tiffin's? Another check mark for BOG style, PPO breakfast and jumping onto the Banshee ride.

The Fantasmic stadium seats a lot more people than the ROL stadium, so I don't know they need 3 restaurants with dining packages for the little stadium. They did fine for JB with two.

Maybe they will take TH off the list for packages as it is already a very popular restaurant that books up far in advance. the F! packages were for the less popular HS restaurants... I know H&V is characters but they did lots of stuff to up the appeal in what was previously a very unappealing experience.

I'm betting on QS. There has to be a QS on that side of the park. If you are in Pandora, the closest QS would be Flame Tree, which isn't that close. Harambe market would be the next closest, I think.

I'm guessing it will be food court service, similar to POR Riverside mill, or Sunshine Seasons at Epcot. This style of QS is much more efficient than counter service where you order and pay, then wait for your food at the counter.

With Rainforrest, Tiffins, Yak and Yeti, and Tusker, AK doesn't need another TS restaurant. Especially as all 4 have plenty of day of availability for lunch and dinner. Maybe not for the first few months, but, long term, Pandora isn't going to draw in enough additional people to fill up the current restaurants, as well as fill up another restaurant.

Well, there's Pizzafari, but I can understand why you'd block that out.

I think CS makes the most sense, too. Each section of the park has a CS restaurant, so Pandora should have one too. There are already 4 TS locations (including Tiffins, a signature, and Rainforest Cafe at park entrance) in DAK, but I wouldn't mind a fifth, either.

I was thinking, but Pizzafari is right around the corner.
I love the idea of a BOG type location. I think that works well. Would love to see the idea expanded.
Which means they are unlikely to do it

Now I know I have been away from WDW and from these boards way too long. I was trying to figure out why there was so much talk and excitment about a jewelry store (Pandora). :rotfl::rotfl:

Based on the picture I thought it was TS. But in my opinion AK would benefit more from a new nice QS place.

Oh, they could. Epcot has a buffet and an AYCTE within that park.

I think a QS is more likely, though.

Maybe it will be TS that does walk-ups to start, like Skipper Canteen. i'm hoping for TS - we aren't fans of Yak & Yeti, the kids don't eat anything at Tiffins, and we prefer TS.
