My friend is taking her first trip to Orlando in the beginning of December!
Here's the problem:

She is staying at Pop for the first three nights, and then is going to stay at the Holiday Inn Universal Main Gate for the last four nights.
What should she do for transportation?
She is trying to stay away from renting a car for cost reasons, but shuttles and taxi's are going to start adding up.

If this were your itinerary, what would you do?

does your friend have transportation while staying at Holiday Inn to the parks? assuming she does, find out if there is an Avis car rental around. i believe there is one at the Hilton in DTD.....she could rent a car there, and return it near the Holiday Inn (i believe it's only $30 for a 12 or 24 hour rental). if there's no rental return, she just may have to fork out the bucks....which, she should have cuz she's moving from POP to Holiday Inn and that will save her the few dollars she'd need for transportation.

Getting to the Universal HI is going to be pricy from the Disney area. Plus, the cost of the airport transportation, it's going to add up.

She would be better off renting a compact car using of the codes from mousesavers.com

herc.

Bubba's mom& hercamore: The hotel is right across the street from the US entrance, so she and her husband can walk there. But I agree that they are going to be better off with a car, and for around $150.00 for an economy or compact, it shouldn't break the bank too much, I guess.
I was just wondering if anyone had done this kind of split before and what transportation has beed used.

Thanks for the replies,guys!

I've rented a car the past 5 years around that time and the rates are usually very low. I usually pay around $120 incl tax with National w/Emerald Aisle intermediate and a $20 Entertainment coupon or free day coupon. In the past, rates have gone down closer to the date because it's not a busy time and they have lots of cars left. Check mousesavers for discount contract codes.
