I made reservations for Disney and they ask what you are celebrating and it made me wonder, Do people celebrate things other than birthdays or anniversaries?
We are going in Nov and our anniversary is September so I could celebrate a belated anniversary, then my dd5 is starting kindergarten so could I use that?

We are going in September and celebrating my 45th birthday, our 17th wedding anniversary both on Spetember 5th. But mainly we are going to celebrate making it through a very rough year medically.

I always said that when I got lucky enough to have grandkids, we would get their first haircuts at the Main Street Barber Shop. So far we have done three, and when our fourth was born a few weeks ago, my oldest granddaughter took a look at her little brother's headful of dark hair and said, "Yay!!! We get to go to Disney World!" It was very sweet.

When we went, it actually was my birthday during the week we were there. It was such fun celebrating there ! But the great thing is, you can celebrate ANYTHING you want !!! there aren't any rules, it's YOUR celebration on your vacation! So celebrate whatever makes you happy. If you want to celebrate your daughter starting kindergarten, I think that would be a wonderful thing to celebrate. :yay:

Have fun and celebrate everything !!! Life's too short. :goodvibes

Life.

I put my "I'm Celebrating" button on my diaper bag so I didn't lose, but I didn't really want to flaunt it because I didn't have a REAL celebration, but when CMs asked what I was celebrating, I told them "life" or "a great vacation."

Next year we'll be celebrating an anniversary and a birthday on the same trip! (My son will be 3 just a few days after our 6th anniversary, so we're going to take advantage of his last few days before being an expensive traveler at Disney. :-) )

There isn't a rule that says you have to celebrate anything. If you are not going during a birthday or anniversary, then I wouldn't celebrate those. We never celebrated the start of Kindergarten (just took a few pictures). But if you want to, I say GO FOR IT.

We have done celebrations when we have actually been there on the special day (DD's birthday - several times, Christmas, Mother's Day, Father's Day). During those times, I make sure we have special things planned to celebrate (ordering cakes, ordering Christmas tree delivered to the room, and stuff like that).

You can really celebrate whatever you'd like though...not just traditional things. This past January, after DD got released from a 9 week hospital stay, we went to WDW 2 weeks later after her doctor cleared her for the trip. We celebrated her FINALLY being out of the hospital.

My inlaws live in Central America and we live in TN and we see each other maybe 1-2 times per year, so it's cheaper for us to meet up in Orlando(as far as airfare goes)....we always say "Family Reunion"...(even though here are only 6 of us total) when they ask.

Next October we'll be celebrating my DD's bat mitzvah. This November/December we're celebrating Hanukkah. You can celebrate anything you want. :goodvibes

I got my seasonal pass a few months before a layoff, so on my Celebration button--I wrote I was celebrating unemployment. Got a few laughs out of that one! :lmao:

For years we went to WDW during DHs birthday week and didn't know about the pins! I found out about them on these boards and DH proudly wore his birthday pin thru the parks on our next trip, being congratulated hourly by cast members. He loved it! :wizard:

We went to DL for our 20th anniversary and wore anniversary pins while there. We had other guests shouting out congratulations and cast members going out of their way to come greet us! I remember that as one of the best Disney trips we've had....such fun celebrating with a cast of thousands. :rotfl:

:thumbsup2

We celebrated our oldest making honor roll on our last trip. Next year we are going to celebrate our youngest DD's birthdays as well as our belated anniversary.

Why can't you just be happy to be at WDW. I will not congratulate you just for aging into kindergarten. Millions of kids do that every year.

Our trips are always in August, so we get to celebrate our wedding anniversary each time!:bride:

Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays....

Why post at all if you aren't contributing something positive?

Millions of kids have birthdays every year, millions of couples have anniversaries...doesn't mean they shouldn't be celebrated! Life is too short! We should celebrate more I say!

I was thinking about what to celebrate with our trip coming up too because everytime I'd call to make a reservation or something the CM would ask me what I was celebrating and I would always say nothing special, but you know what, that's not true!!

I got into Grad school and I'm starting that in September (part-time), I'm starting a new job in September,

My DD is absolutely the best help ever with her little brother and she deserves to be celebrated for that I say, she gets super grades, she had a great year with her extra curricular activies, she hit a home run in baseball (and it was her first year playing), so many things I could celebrate her for.

And my DS is simply the sweetest thing in the world and he brightens my day everyday, he also potty trained and a million more things too.

So I am celebrating my accomplishments and also my children!!

Our trip is in 45 days!!!

Boyfriend and I got officially engaged last weekend.
His birthday is the second day of vacation.
DS is in high school.
DD started potty training.
We are doing a grand gathering with my best friend. We have seen each other only once in 8 years and that was only for two hours during a layover. I so cannot wait to see her.
Her fiance will be over from England and I FINALLY get to meet him in person.
Our sons get to see each other after all these years. They were besties when they were little.

We have a lot to celebrate this trip. Usually though, we just celebrate going on vacation.

I leave for Disney in 62 days and I am celebrating losing 70 pounds and I can't wait to run around to every photo pass person and have my picture taken anywhere and everywhere...it's what I am celebrating....

I typically respond "nothing". However, this last trip (last Sunday-Friday), I celebrated graduating with my Master's. Graduation was 2 days before I left for Florida. It is truly my biggest accomplishment, and I'm beyond excited to be done with school (went straight from undergrad to grad school, so it's been a long haul), to have put myself through grad school and still be in a position to take vacations, and to have a job lined up that starts next week.

We celebrated the adoption of our children. We thought what better way to celebrate becoming a family then taking the kids to WDW. It was the best trip ever and now the kids are hooked and want to go every year. We weren't planning on going this year but it looks like we may make a quick trip down in Dec. to celebrate DS10 and DD7 birthdays. They said they didn't want a party or presents they just wanted to go to WDW.
