What do tickets get you?

I don't really understand what each ticket gets you?

Can you get into the Downtown Disney areas with a Park Hopper Ticket, or do you need an Ultimate Park Hopper ticket?

Someone please help, as I'm trying to plan my honeymoon.

The park hopper gets you into all four theme parks. The ultimate hopper gets you into all four theme parks, the water parks and Disney quest. You don't need a ticket to get into Downtown Disney. Hopes this helps. Also if you go to Disney's web site you can compare the different tickets they have.

If in your definition of "Downtown Disney" you are including the clubs of Pleasure Island, then yes, you do need to pay admission there.

PI is included in length of stay passes purchased with packages, and as a plus option on Park Hopper Plus passes. The cash admission price is ~$22/night.

The shops and restaurants in the rest of DD and DD West Side do not require paying an admission fee.

You don't need a ticket for MOST of Downtown Disney. There is admission to Pleasure Island at night. A Plus pass will include this admission.
