example delux oceanview 8a vs 9a.what is the difference? Cannot find specifics online.
I get the main cats Inside, Oceanview, veranda, concierge. What do the numbers mean. For example the higher the number the lower the cost?
And to make it more confusing you have 8a, 8b etc. do more breakdowns???

Higher the number and higher the letter, lower the cost. For example, 8A will cost more than 8B. 4A will cost more than 8A.

If it's within the same category, letters often reflects the deck it's on. Higher the deck, lower the letter, higher the cost. So a 4A is higher deck than 4C, and thus would cost more.

This explains it: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/cr-staterooms.htm#cat

The lower the number, and the earlier the letter in the alphabet, the more expensive the stateroom.

Cat 11 is standard inside, Cat 10 is deluxe inside, Cat 9 is deluxe oceanview, Cat 8 is deluxe family oceanview, Cat 7 is navigator's verandah, Cat 6 is deluxe verandah with white wall railing, Cat 5 is deluxe verandah with clear railing, Cat 4 is deluxe family verandah with clear railing, Cat V is a deluxe family verandah at concierge level, Cat T is one-bedroom concierge, And Cat R is a concierge royal room.

Whether a given category number has an A, B, C or D next to it is based on what deck it's on (higher decks are more expensive) and sometimes what section of the deck it is on (midship is more expensive than forward or aft).

That is the main difference, but depending on the ship there can be special stateroom types within those categories. For example, 8A on the Dream class ships features two massive portholes and sometimes a split-cabin arrangement. The bathtubs can also be slightly different between the categories, with most types of cat 8 family oceanview cabins (but not 8A's) on Dream class having the round tub with rainfall shower, and cat 9s having the rectangular tub with regular showerhead.
