What do people wear in the MDRs?

Our first cruise was in the Bahamas and it seemed like people were still a bit dressy, but that was quite a few years ago. Our second was in Alaska, and it definitely felt like people were dressing up more for dinner. Now I'm reading that the dress code has changed. Can someone please tell me what "most" people are wearing in the main dining rooms on the Dream?

And would "dressy" flip flops (not the kind you would wear to the pool or beach) acceptable for women? And are very nice dress shorts (silk ones from Tommy Bahama) appropriate for men?

I don't want to break the rules or seem out of place, but I can't seem to figure out what is typical anymore.

There is technically almost no dress code. We wore sundresses and khakis & polos. Sandals, sneakers, whatever for shoes.

Honestly, I didn't notice what anyone else wore except for one woman in a stunning gown on dress up optional night. I was impressed.

As noted, there's really not much of a "dress code" onboard the Disney ships. The only thing specified is "no swimwear or tank tops for dinner". Except for Palo/Remy, you'll find practically all manner of dress in the dining rooms, from fancy to tee shirts and shorts (even on "formal" nights).

For Palo brunch my husband wore khakis and a button down shirt, I wore nice pants and a blouse.

The MDR's seem less dressy and more relaxed over the past years. Really you dress how you want. Some like dressing up for dinner and others don't. It is a personal preference.

Technically, yes. Especially the "no jeans" thing. The "no capris" thing is hit or miss. Some have been told to go change when wearing capris for brunch, others have been seated wearing capris.

But, for the most part, brunch is a little less dressy than dinner. As mentioned, a polo shirt and khakis will work for men, and a nice sundress or pants outfit will work for women.

I was pleasantly shocked at how many people really went all out on formal nights and was so thankful that we purchased and packed DHs tuxedo. He was not out of place...at all.

Jackets are required for Remy, ties are not required for either one.

We were on the Dream last summer & saw all kinds of clothes. Some people were very dressed up: fancy dresses, shirts & ties. Also saw casual shorts & t-shirts.

My family wore (women) sundresses, sandals or nice flip flops. (men) Khaki pants or shorts, button down shirts or golf shirts & boat shoes.

I would say most people were dressed "business casual"
