What do people do the night before?

We're staying at the Raddison at Manchester airport the night before the holiday of a lifetime. We're getting a taxi to airport so wont have a car. We wanted to go to the trafford centre to hang out etc., but it's too far away? ANy ideas what to do and how to pass the time. We have two children aged 2 and 9?

Oh sooooo true, we have to be at check in about 6.30ish as usual I will be sitting at end of bed at 5.30am waiting for DH & DD to surface

The Radisson is a lovely hotel. We stayed there last year and booked to go again this year.

We arrived in the afternoon last year, after checking in we went to see where we would be checking in at the terminal, had a snack at one of the cafes, went round the shops, bought some books, mags, etc. Then we went back to the room for a little bit before going down to the gym and having a swim, sauna and steam room. There was another couple of families there with kids have a good splash about. We felt incredibly relaxed after this then had a meal in the cheaper of the hotel's restaurants which was really nice before going to bed. My children were 18 and 16 last year.

I think with your kids I would take them to look at the planes, go in the shop and buy something new to keep them occupied, take them for a swim which will wear them out, have tea then get them off to bed. Then I would have a couple of glasses of wine relaxing watching tv. I would imagine you could rent films via the tv, just cannot remember off hand. There was free internet access in the rooms.

If you're looking not to travel too far, there's the airport viewing park where you can view a load of old planes, including concorde and a trident and watch planes take off too. There are a few decent pubs around as well.

Hi there me and my family are staying at the radisson sas as well and we are getting the bus to the trafford centre, the bus runs every 30mins from the airport, we coming down from scotland and arrive at the airport around 1ish and are just going to leave all luggage and hop on the bus to the trafford centre, i have 3 kids as well 2,6 and 16, we are just going for a little look and a bite to eat then we are going back to the airport to the viewing area.

The above is also my plan for next Friday afternoon/evening. I plan on getting an early dart from work and off to the airport for a good relaxing start to our holiday! A few glasses of wine won't go amiss either!!

We have four children aged six and under and feel that we would simply miss our flight it we did'nt check in the night before.

Anyway, as a family tradition now we always request the same "runway view" and order room service. The children thoroughly enjoy eating there dinner's whilst watching the aeroplanes.

At the moment it's only at Gatwick that you can check in the night before, I think they call it Twilight Check In.

With Virgin its now all Self-service machines at the terminal, and you just hand your luggage into the check in desk.

Just to let you know that we ate at Garfunkels last August & wouldn't eat there again. DS piazza was uneatable & it was expensive for what we had!

Do you have to request a runway view?

Are there ever any discounts on the Radisson or do the prices generally stay the same?

I have just been having a look at the Radisson for the night before we go.

We need a room for 2 adults and 1 child age 7 on the 26th May for 1 night.

I had a look on expedia and I could book a twin room or queen room for £99 but it doesnt say where the third person sleeps do they provide roll out beds or sofa beds?

They always allow us in two standard rooms, one with a double bed and one with a twin and there are six of us, two been infants.

They are quite accomodating so I'm sure if you asked for an additional bed they would do all they can.

in replying to another post, I have always had to request a Runway view, firstly upon booking and then at check in.
