what do I wear to school picnic?

At my daughter's school, they are having a picnic for new parents. The picnic itself will be held indoors in the gym, and we can tour the school and my daughter will get to see her classroom. What do I wear? A casual dress with sandals, capri's or pants and maybe a nice shirt? I have no idea, I have black dress pants and a nice black skirt just no shirt yet to go with either one. I want to look nice just not overly dressed for the occasion.

The picnics at my girl's school was on blankets on the floor. If you can find out what kind of setting there is, it'll help.

Dress cool. With that many kids in one room, it's going to be hot. They don't expect you to dress like going to a party. Colorful capris and a cute purse would say,"I'm fun and I like school." Gives the impression that you want to be involved. Pretty toes help

Hope it's a grand new year. Pre-K is such fun. I miss those days

If it is a picnic atmosphere.....I am thinking, depending on the weather, a nice capri outfit....just thinking about getting up and down off the floor with a skirt on.....

Capri's, a t'shirt and sandals. Black pants are too dressy. Dress casual and comfortable. Even a nice shorts outfit is fine. Have fun...

something you can move in and are not afraid to get dirty-since the kids are invited too i would'nt be surprised if they had some activities that involved both parents and students (and since it's in a school gymnasium i imagine that non slippery foot wear is a good idea-those polished floors are terrible in heels-we always see some senior girl in even modest heels do the slip and slide during graduation ceremonies).
