What do I need to know about a Mac computer?

But if a person is prone to get them, they will anyways. My exbf's sister was like this with her mac, we couldn't figure out how, but every month or two she would get a new virus and we'd have to take it in to get fixed. She was like a magnet. I'm also assuming she would get the SAME viruses over and over again, because she got them so often.

There's usually 3 ways to get viruses.

Opening email attachments
Going to websites that are more likely to have viruses.
A software disc she had was causing it

I think it depends on what you are willing to pay for-any apple product involves expensive proprietary hardward which may or may not perform better than PC hardward-the two Macbook pros we have had were actually nightmares for hardware in comparison to my toshiba satellites. I dont find MAC OS either better or worse than windows in the gui-i do like that i can navigate file systems on a command line in MAC but my general preference is for a Linux OS with a mozilla based browser anyway. I thing you should go to an apple store and look closely at teh systems and decide what you want based on your personal experience.

People, wait for the 23rd October! A big press conference is scheduled with many product updates rumoured including:

• iPad Mini - smaller and cheaper than the standard iPad
• 13" MacBook Pro with a Retina Display whose resolution is so high that the human eye cannot pick out individual pixels
• Regular iPad upgrade
• iMac and Mac Mini upgrades

I don't see the connection between MacBook and iPad. Two very different systems. Probably better to bribe a friend to lent u an MacBook. Lol

Agreed, they really don't have much in common at all besides the Apple name and a couple of programs (Safari, Itunes, Garageband)

I agree with the above, the iPad and the MacBook are not even in the same ballpark. I have the iPad (which sees light use), and the MacBook Pro (which sees HEAVY use).

Maybe the MacBook Air is a compromise?

mba is just a thin version of the mbp. i prefer the mba as i already have a power desktop and its good for me to carry my mba around the house or on travel. Its meant for heavy use too. mbp really for ppl who need the power...

mba is missing DVD drive, lots of ports(ie ethernet) and everything is microlized to fit in a slim profile.

Yeah, I know that. My example is just that you CAN get viruses, and for the people that tend to get them on PCs shouldn't switch over simply because of that. Most viruses are easily avoided, so if you're getting them consistently (after they have been totally removed before) switching to a Mac isn't necessarily just going to solve that problem.
