What do I need to do to get this corrected??SS# being used

Someone is using my SS# to get food stamps. They have not used it for anything "credit" wise the best I can tell. (I just did a credit report and everything is mine)

But what procedures do I need to follow?????

You should go ahead and put a fraud alert on your credit reports just in case. This person might decide to use your number. Then contact the SSA. I have run into two cases where the SSA issued the same social security number to two people. It's weird but it happens. Then contact whoever issues food stamps in your area if you haven't yet.

Also call the food stamps place. Someone born very close to my son's birth date registered for food stamps but a clerical error happened and my son's SSN was used. We had to talk to them twice to get it cleared up, but it was just a computing error.

I'd start with calling the human services hotline in whatever state the case is in and reporting it. You'd be surprised how easily that sort of mistake can happen, and many times it is just that someone somewhere transposed two numbers when entering the number.

Someone used my SS# to get medicaid. Very annoying for me. I wasn't allowed to have any information regarding the name and other information of the person that was using my number to file a police report. Their privacy was protected even though they stole my number. Go figure.
