What do I need to allocate "extra" money for??

Our last big trip to Disney was in May 2009. I bought SO much ahead of time and our trip was so great ... alot of that was due to help I found on this board.
I brought the shoe hanging organizer to put all of our toothbrushes, shampoos, etc in to clear the counters. I brought a hanging shelving thing to keep my kids clothes in (lack of drawer space). I also made out a budget and have NO clue what was on there

I remember making sure I had $5 bills to tip mousekeeping everyday. I remember making sure I had money set aside for a taxi ride and to tip the Bus driver from the airport. I had a certain amount set aside for dining gratuities (we are on dining plan) but can not for the life of me remember what else ... HELP

What do you budget for??

Souvenirs? Snacks? Shiny pennies? Depending on your hotel and what you might forget at home, you may have to buy some items or want to partake in some rental activities. If those are the type of things you use plastic for (credit/debit/KTTW), then maybe tips for luggage handlers at your home airport?

What do you use a taxi for? Groceries? Universal Studios?

I don't take alot of that stuff, but I did buy a pop up hamper for our dirty clothes, at the end of the week, we can just grab it up an throw it in our van.

We are staying at Pop in January and have a small fridge that we are going to take with us, it is alot less messy than the cooler and will save a ton, because DH is always needing a soda.

I do take a small basket to sit on the bathroom counter that is big enough to hold our toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, etc so it doesn't fall all over the counter and can easily be moved for cleaning.

We take a small multi plug for cell phones, iPods, etc (just the one that has 3 extra outlets)

It's just Dh and I, so I don't have to deal with alot of other stuff.

Sorry if I'm not up on the WDW resort mousekeeping/tip protocol, but 5$ per day?!?! That seems a little steep to me, but I don't know much. Is anyone able to explain to me the rational behind this figure?

Shopping period... we tip at end of trip for housekeeping and we stay 12 days this trip and will tip on last day but not at $5 a day. If on dining --so far at POP---can get soda when you want at food court in refillable mugs...we only use Disney transportation so no taxi tips..the ME driver we tip IF he gets luggage out but last four trips BIL put luggage in and took it out so tipped resort bell services instead as BIL took it there until room ready. on that we tip $1.50 per bag...and we tip at TS meals. but keep ones for that if they good server we tip well if not

$1.00 per person in the room per day. That's the way I look at it.

Thanks for all the ideas I'd not thought of the shoe holder for the closet next to the bathroom counter, good idea. We have those hanging makeup type travel bags that we use.....but no one ever puts their toothbrush back in them when they are done so a plastic shoe holder would work better. That'll keep the sink from getting so cluttered. I'm tempted to get one for our shoes too....keeps them off the floor so they don't get in a Mousekeepers way if she needs to vacuum.

We take a case of water and sodas, and tons of ziplocks in various sizes. We always have cookies or rice krispie treats left from our meals and you hate to throw them away....kids get the munchies 10 minutes after you toss any leftovers LOL I like to put them in a ziplock and put them in my backpack for later.

I'll have to remember to get our roll of quarters and pennies too, we always make the M&M Tubes for the kids and that way they can make their own pressed pennies....plus we need quarters for the wash and dry cycles at POP.

There are 2 of us and in the past, I have tipped $2-$3 per day, and I leave it on the bathroom counter each morning on the way out of the room. The reason you leave it daily is because you may not hav ethe same person every day and if you leave it at the end of your stay a person that only cleaned for maybe 1 day of your stay gets all the tip.

But, the more I think about it, with mousekeeping not being a tipped position, I may not leave a tip anymore. Now, if I call and ask them bring me something extra, I can understand that. The luggage people, I get that too. I just don't know, it's not like it's going to break the budget, I just don't see the reasonn. Some days we just skip it altogether, because we don't mess up the room that much.
