What do I need at the airport for the kids?

It's been a few years since I've flown with kids and I can't remember. I know you're supposed to bring their birth certificate, but can it be a copy, or does it have to be an official one with the raised stamp on it? Anything else besides their boarding pass/confirmation? We are flying Southwest and they are 8 and 11 if that makes a difference. TIA!!:goodvibes

No birth certificate, no nothing (unless you are flying internationally). But, you might want to bring along a tranquilizer gun, just in case you need it. ;)

Thanks for starting this thread.
My kids are 8 and 10 and will be flying for the first time in October and I had no idea I might need to bring something with me to the airport.
Sounds like I don't need to worry about it though. phew.

:goodvibes Thanks guys! I didn't know if I needed to prove they were ours with the birth certificate or not. ;) Good idea on the tranquilizer gun, although a nintendo ds or a movie seem to have the same effect on my 11 year old son. He doesn't even hear anything else. :)

Vet wrap works and is easier to get than the tranquilizer gun. And comes in really neat colors!

(didn't say duct tape because it leaves sticky residue!)

But at your kids age the threat of death usually works just as well.

On the serious side make sure you have headphones for the dvd player and the movies AND he turns the volume off on the DS. hearing that beep beep and music from those things is very aggravating.

I always do. It annoys me too. He uses them for his ds also.
