I have a solo trip planned for December, hotel reservations made, airline paid for. My sister was talking about a trip for her family for next year, but apparently the only member of the family who wants to go to Disney, is my 9 yo niece. We went as a whole family in 2000 but DN was not quite 3 at the time and she doesn't remember the trip. My DS has mentioned me taking my DN with me. I would love that, but my outgoing flight on USAIR is full. It is the only non stop of the morning. Now, I was thinking of just cancelling my reservation on USAIR and going with Southwest when they come out with their flights for December. My other option is taking another trip after Easter and take my DN at that time. But I would love for her to experience Disney at Christmas, my favorite time at the Happiest Place on Earth. She is just at a perfect age to enjoy it and remember it, since it seems the rest of her family doesn't want to go back.

One other thing, I have a reservation for the Epcot Segway tour one morning. I would either have to cancel that or find one of the child care places for a couple of hours. I can't leave her wandering around Epcot, unless of course they will let her run behind me while I'm on the Segway

TIA for any opinions

take the two trips. a solo trip is sometimes just what the doctor ordered.

Funny you should respond that way. My solo trip is my Almost Post Chemo Trip. :Pinkbounc

I would take your niece first and then go solo another time, it would be so worth it.

Sorry to hear that you're having Chemo. This has to be an extemely difficult time for you emotionally as well as physically. My prayers are with you. What a great aunt you are to be so willing to rearrange things for your niece, but I agree that you should take two trips. The December trip should just be about you. I took my first solo trip to Disney last summer after an extremely stressful year, and it was the best thing I could have done for myself. After I got over the guilt of leaving my husband and daughter behind, I had a blast! It was wonderful to have those few days that I could do whatever I wanted without having to think of anyone else's needs.

So I vote to stick with your original December plans and pamper yourself. (Plus you get an extra Disney trip for Easter!)

I have to agree with this, especially since christmas time is so amazing. You can always do you solo trip later!!! JMHO!!! :joker:

I can sympathise with you. I've planned a solo trip twice so far this year and each time I did it others asked if they could join me. My Mom and Aunt are coming along in September and my Daughter and her boyfriend in December.

It'll be alot of fun having them come along but I've never done a solo trip and I've always wanted to. So I bet sometime in the first half of 2007 I'll be taking a trip to WDW by myself.

If I were you I'd take my neice along(well as an Uncle I wouldn't but that's a different situation). It sounds like you'll have a great time with her and you can always reschedule the solo trip and it's Segway tour etc. Keep an eye open for an extra seat on the USAir flight and also keep an eye on SWA for flights. I'm sure one of them will work out.

I'm so sorry to hear about having to go through Chemo. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I would take two trips, but make the Christmas one just for you. If this is going to be after Chemo treatments you may not have the energy to deal with a child of any age. Take this time for you! You deserve it!!! You can take your niece later in the year after you've been able to recuperate a bit longer.
