We will be coming to Disney May 12-18. My DH is going to be attending a seminar Tuesday - Friday from 8am-6pm. This is not our first trip to Disney. It is my DH's 6th, my 7th and our girls 4th. The girls are content to get up late, lay by the pool, go to Blizzard Beach one day and go to MGM another. Our flight gets in the first day early afternoon. I came along on the seminar last year and toured all of the hotels, gift shops and hung out by the pool. This year I want something more, something else! What else is there for a Mom to do with 2 teens besides the parks, golf (none of us golf) and hotel hopping?

why not go check out Downtown disney for the night? and then if your not to tired, give Pleasure Island a try :D
or maybe even do disneyquest, your never to old to play arcade games all day

How about a nice spa treatment at either the Grand Floridian or Disney Institute (I think that is still there)? Or how about parasailing or water skiing from the Contemporary? We also went tubing one year.....pulled on an inner tube behind a motor boat.....that was a blast. There are also many behind-the-scenes tours including a dolphin experience at EPCOT. We always enjoy ourselves at DisneyQuest at the Downtown Disney area....you can easily spend hours here. In addition, you can go horseback riding at Fort Wilderness.

There are also many boating activities that can be done.....from renting water sprites....to sailboats....to a fishing excursion.....et al.

I think any one of these...or a combination of these...will provide hours of varied fun. I don't have specific links but most of the specific information (I have indicated) can be found elsewhere on this board.

Enjoy.......

We are going to try some of the tourist traps in South Florida on this trip... You know all the buildings on the side of the road claiming to have the worlds most something or another

Seriously though, I think you would be in a good position to buy a couple of passes to Pleasure Island and turn the kids loose in there... They would be hard pressed to get into any real trouble and they would have a great time.

Good Luck!

If you are talking about ALL theme parks, then consider a full day at Seaworld. If you have a car available, you could opt for The Kennedy Space Center. Last year my son and I took a break from the theme parks by exploring the town of Celebration and having lunch there...

Your girls might love a day at Universal's Islands of Adventure. Great for teens. You could also explore City Walk (shopping/restaurants) while you're there.

I will give you a little more background. We have done Animal Kingdom 2x's (it was nice to see the first time but the second we were done in 2 hours and not interested in going back). Magic Kingdom we have done 5x's (really enjoyed it but we have done it and the girls are not intersted in it, I will say some of the best restuarants are there and I will miss that). Epcot we have done 5x's (I love the shoping, food and atmosphere but no one else is interested and i don't want to go alone). MGM is everyones favorite and we are doing that the day before we leave so my DH can come along. Typhoon Lagoon we have done 2x's and each time we all liked it but we have decide to not buy Ultimate Hoppers and instead just buy a day pass to MGM and one water park. Blizzard Beach we did once sord of. We were trapped in the restroom for over an hour due to a storm and then they closed the park, so this is the one we have decided to try on our first day since it is closed at the end of the week (anyone know why). River Country we did 1x but it is now closed or so I am told. Disney Quest we have done 2x's and we are not interested in going back (not big on video or virtual reality, will miss the Cheesecake Factory though). Market Place we have done 6x's and always enjoy an afternoon of shoppin and eating (we can't miss Wolfgang Puck's even if it is the express). Pleasure Island we have done 6x's and my DH does not like the kids down there at night. It makes him very nervous! Plus last year i was very disappointed in the New Years bash. No dancers, no confettie and a lot less exciting. I would love to do Sea World or Universal sometime but on this trip we have no transportaion and we don't want to leave the DH out since he is in a seminar. Kennedy Space Center is great! We have done it 2x's and each time come away with more but same thing. My DH and older son have golfed at Palms but the girls and I are not interested in it. Gand Floridian Spa I have done once and didn't even think about taking the girls but now I am going to check into it (does anyone know a link). Tea and the spa would be a great afternoon! We can't do horses because 2 of us are allergic but that would have been a great idea! Water sprites are another idea and one have a link? Like I said keep them coming this is great!;)
