I've lived in this apartment for 7 years, took care of the building, and got along great with my landlord. I have a problem with my neighbor downstairs. Playing loud, booming music almost every night until 5 am in the morning, (I get up at 6), and even after the landlord talked to him, he didn't stop. She won't do anything else because she "doesn't like trouble."

So I talked to my landlord, and since my lease is up in June and I was planning to move anyways, she said I can get out of my lease by April. It's in writing.

So after being nervous about my credit, I did start looking, found this great apartment, and went for it. My credit was no problem!!!! So I gave them first months rent and security, and my landlord's phone number so they can verify I lived there for so long. I called her and let her know that the apartment would be vacant in March so she could show it, but I WOULD STILL PAY FOR MARCH because that was our agreement. She said fine.

So they called her for verification, and she complained about me and said that I was breaking the lease and not paying her!!! First of all, we re-wrote the lease to state March was my last month. Second, I'm paying her for March even though I won't be there!!! I mean, she's been fine all this time, why did she choose to do this to me now???? I don't understand....

I'm trying to get a hold of her, but she's not answering her phone.

Now I don't think I can get the apartment. :sad2:

Do you have everything in writing so that you can prove it to the new apartment landlords?
Maybe your present landlord don't want you to move or had misunderstood what the other landlords were saying.
Keep trying to contact her and get things straighened out so that you still have a chance to get the other place.

You may also want to check with the police to see if she is violating the peace with the music being loud.

I would get a hold of the new landlord and explain to them what is going on. Ask them what they need from you to prove you are a good tenant. Show them the new lease and tell them your plans to pay until April. Tell them if you were a bad tenant that you would not be able to stay in an apartment for 7 years. Good luck to you.

Call the new landlord and explain the situation. I agree - a renter who stayed for seven years and is moving because of excessive noise is a good, quiet renter you want! Offer to show them a copy of the lease with your current landlord.

Well, I don't know what happened, but the realty group just called me and said I forgot to sign something on my lease, so to come in tomorrow, sign it, and i'm set to go!!

Woohoo, I'm moving out!!!!!!! :woohoo: :moped:

ugh, moving.. :sad2: :teeth:

Congratulations! I am so happy it worked out for you. Good luck with the move. After 7 years I am sure you have a lot of packing to do!

They could probably tell she was lying. Good luck on your move!
