I've been offered an interview for my DREAM JOB the day after me and my children are supposed to leave for WDW. It's going to cost an extra $350.00 for a later flight. Since the interview does not guarantee a job, should I skip it and go on with our vacation? Or should I pay the money, go to the interview and lose two whole days?

I would explain the situation and ask for another interview time either before I left or after I got back. Alot of places perfer the honesty and will reschedule. If that was not possiable I would change my vacation dates bacause a job would pay for more vacations and if this is your dream job you would be happier everyday not just on vacation. I know an interview doesn't give the job but you don't interview you can't get the job.
Hope you can understand this as I'm very tired right now and not sure I'm making sense.

Call them back, tell them you have to be out of town on family business and could you reschedule EARLIER so they will know that you're eager to have the job. It's also a good time because you'll have the trip in the back of your mind and won't be as nervous. Either way it goes, you still get to go to DWD. :cool1:

I understood you perfectly! I explained my situation and I was told that they were interviewing for one day only. I feel the same--that I should go to the interview, I just don't like change, especially when I've been planning for so long! Thanks for the advice!

Any way to add days at the end to make it just as long a trip ?

I would compare and contrast. How many people are they interviewing? Are they interviewing a select few (pay the money for your dream job then), or Hundreds of canidates? How "in the hole would the extra $350 cause you to be? Can you change the dates of the vacation to start later and stay later (or earlier) to not lose two days? Could you just simply extend the vacation? Is it a short or long vacation (where two days might not be that big of a deal)? How many other job opportunities like this come around for you? How do you feel your chances are of getting the job? Could you get an early morning interview and leave right after so you only lose one day of vacation?

For the most part, if this is a job you really, really want--I'd take the interview. You don't have any chance if you don't interview.
