I was just at WDW about a month ago and one of my christmas suovenirs broke. I know I could call and they would replace it but I don't have a #. Is there anything I might need when I call about this, a UPC # or receipt? Does anyone know a # I could call about this?

Thanx :)

Just wondering here, but, you broke it and they should replace it??

I missed the part where Danny said "she" broke it. I guess when you get to 10,000 post you turn into a mind reader. :thumbsup2

Did it break itself? It's been a month and Danny wants a free replacement? Like I said, I was just wondering.

I just typed out a whole novel but decided not to hijack the thread with my own saga but when I had an issue I called the store directly where I purchased the item. Yes, I wanted to get it replaced and yes I thought it was the only right thing to do. So did Disney in fact since when I called I was told "we stand by our work". Unfortunately, I don't think their work in this case is that great since the same thing happened again after the original issue and the same thing happened to a similar product I had purchased for my daughter. In these last two incidences I got the problem corrected elsewhere and so far so good.

They will only replace a christmas souvenier/ornament if THEY shipped it to you. We purchased a christmas ornament a couple of years ago - they packed in and put in it a box, when we got home, it was broken. When we opened the box, there wasn't much tissue paper around the ornament. I did call and they told me since they didn't ship it, they can't replace it.

Don't be put off the by cranky people. Disney may very well help you out. It depends on how it broke blah blah. No one here knows HOW it broke so NO ONE has the right to tell someone they're cheap.

I bought a mug from POR a couple years ago. Got it home used it a couple times and the handle fell off. I took it back to the store with my receipt on our next trip(a month later). They replaced it with no problem. While I was looking for a new one I gave a little tug on the handle before I bought it and it fell off too.

But then again, Disney may be of no help. Some things they shipped from for us haven't arrived in almost a month now. And were getting no help from them. :guilty:

I didn't know Disney warranted stuff DURING your trip, on the way HOME, and for a few days AT HOME? Funny how people think that Disney has endless pockets for such things?

Would you take the same mug back to WalMart after taking it to FL, then home, and then used it a few days?

Um. Yeah. Who wouldn't? If you buy a product and it falls apart, don't of your own doing. It should be replaced. I didn't drop the mug, or abuse it in any way. And since it happened to a NEW mug in the store. It was obviously poorly made.

Geez people. Why don't you wait until you hear the whole story before you hang someone.
There are items that could break through use that would need to be replaced.
If I buy something and during the course of normal wear and tear it breaks, I would expect a replacement. As long as it was within a normal and reasonable amount of time (think about Wal-Mart's 90 day return policy).

It was also not said that it was an ornament.
A souvenier could be many different things.

I can't believe the attitudes of some people on here.

Oh wait I can.

Pathetic, isn't it?

Danny, in May, I bought a scrapbook while in Disney and by looking at it in the plastic wrap, it looked fine. I finally opened it to start my scrapping to discover it was damaged. That was 4 weeks later. I called Disney and told them what I discovered, and they sent me a new book.

My mil bought a figurine during her 2005 vacation and placed it in a curio. She only took it out twice while dusting the inside of the cabinet and the things arm came off. She called Disney with the intent to purchase another one and they said that it should not have broke and sent her a new one. She bought it in June of 05 and it broke while she was cleaning for Christmas that same year.

Disney will inform you on what they are willing to do. Just give them a call and let them handle it. Good Luck!!

Wow. I just checked this thread after I posted the phone number as post #2. That is, in fact, all Danny asked for. No criticisms, no assumptions. :sad2:

Danny: I don't care what happened to your souvenir, what you souvenir was, or why you want it replaced. Good luck to you and enjoy your disney souvies.

I had the same thing happen with my ornaments in september. the packaging was not acceptable and the ornaments broke due to the packaging. I emailed disney asking about ordering a new one or replacing it (I would have rebought them) but they offered to replace them if I faxed in my receipt showing that I purchased them and circling the items that broke. They were very nice and helpful and I can see how the ornaments could break without it being your fault and not noticing until now.

Whoah Whoah Whoah! I posted this thread to get help not have people tell me I broke my own stuff! First I should say I am a HE, Danny short for Daniel. This is not the first time one of my WDW gifts broke. Last year (my 1st trip) I bought a lights and sounds bank for my mom as gift to put new pennies to use on our next trip for pennies presses since she liked them. About a month after my trip the lights wouldn't work but the sound did. I called WDW and about a week later they replaced it. This year I went and got my mom a Happy Birhday Christmas Mickey Ball as a gift. I thought this was nice since her B-day was near Chirstmas and she loves her christmas decorations especially her tree. I bought it and put it away between my clothes in my suitcase so it wouldn't break... well it did on the way back home. His ear and nose tip broke off. I tried super glue but you see where it broke and it didn't look too good. It's not so easy for me to just go and get a new one since WDW is all they way in Orlando and I am in NJ! Besides even if I order it online I don't have a credit card I'm only 15 and I couldn't find a Orignal WDW suovenir only Disney Store and I don't dare make another thread asking about that...phhff! Right now I have no money since I used it on vacation. So if me calling WDW for a replacement is so bad so be it. I need a replacement isn't thats why its there for like DISboards is here to Help? I don't get why everytime someone posts something someone else thinks the worst of it like suggesting I broke it and want freebies or posting a not be so cheap web site joking and critizing?? I don't get it or like it. Whats so hard about getting a simple answer? Well thank you so much to all the people who did help me and the rest........yeah ok. I will spare you the trouble and tell you I called and got what I needed so you DON'T need to post anymore.

Thank You :) :) :)

Sorry that you broke your Christmas ornament, but it was your fault that you did not pack it appropriately. Not Disney's. I bet if you ask them to pack it for travelling next time, they will pack it so it won't get broken on the trip back home.

Maybe you guys could give us all packing instructions so we can all pack everything perfectly so ACCIDENTS don't happen.

That wasn't the case Deb&Bill. We went DTD late late before we left to go home. It was super super packed and lines were long. I got my gift went in line and got to pay. They were running low on that protective paper and the lady who worked there a-sured me that it would be fine and if not to contact WDW and they would replace it. SHE was the one who even told me to pack it in my luggage like I did and it was late and I just wanted to get out of there because it was so packed with customers and we went home the next day. I knew if it broke I would be able to replace it like my other gift. So I took her word for it and didn't work out. Does the story sound believable now or do you want to call the Disney hot line yourself and ask?

Here's what I don't get. Disney sells you a perfectly operating item, unbroken. Once you buy it, sometime later, it breaks. Disney is not responsible for your breaking the item. Stopping working is one thing (like a $300 watch with a warranty). Physically breaking the item is another - dropping, packing it poorly, etc. That is your responsibility.

If you don't want it to break on your trip back home, pay to have it shipped to you at home. Then, if it arrives broken, Disney should replace it.
