Hi, I have started my planning and I am looking at attractions that my daughter will like at epcot, so far I have The circle of life and The livin Sea and the Princess story book meal.

dd hated HISTA at DLP so we will probaly miss this one.

Is soarin good for a 5 year old?

OK kids will probably like Spaceship earth as it tells them the history of communication and she might enjoy that. Turtle talk with Crush is fab and she will love it. Journey in to imagination with figment she will love! Its fab!
Soaring I think has a height limit on it but assuming she's over that and is ok with circle vision then itll be fine. Also go around the countries in world show case and get her to make a mask (might be a picture now I'm not sure) but basically in every country they have a little stand and someone from that country there for kids to go and get a stamp and colour in which most kids love.

Maelstrom, Test track & Mission space wouldn't be appropriate. She may enjoy the Universe of Energy with Ellen but its a long ride and so she may get bored

Hope this helps

My dd loved Soarin. She was 5 at the time. It doesnt go that high so it is a safe ride. Casey loved it and wanted to go on it all the time. Casey loved the livin seas. It was closed last year so we could not see the crush turtle experience apparently its great.

Also Casey loved getting her passport stamped and signed. You can buy an Epcot passport anywhere in the showcase. Illuminations was fantastic Casey loved that as well and so did our 1 yr old twin boys.

Also the ride Journey into Imagination. All my kids loved this ride including myself. Good thing about this ride its usually a walk on ride so you can go on time and time again. After the ride they have a little area for kids to explore.

Innoventions may have something she likes. In Mission Space if you were to take turns at the back of the shop takes you to a waiting area that has a play area for kids. Casey loved this. Waiting for dh for child swap was good as she was happy playing and I was happy.

Certain times I think it was Japan had a show. It was children performing acrobats Casey loved this.

Morroco, France, England they have characters at certain times. You can meet Aladdin and Beast which I have found hard to come by.

There is so much to do, but I think its more for older children and adults. We found that Casey loved it and we made sure we did rides, shows etc for Casey.

Please excuse my grammar and spelling I am really tired.

What do children like about epcot?

Mine like Test Track and Mission:Space but after that they're bored!

mine (aged 5 and 4 in march 06) enjoyed test track, altho the 60min que was long it had quite a few interesting things which we could talk about as we waited. and they really enjoyed the ride.

they loved crush

enjoyed the walk around the world and meeting all the characters.

planning next year to visit epcot again but this time intend getting the passport and letting them do all the funstop places.

we didnt do soarin altho we planned to but the wait was horrendous.

The World Showcase Passports and the KidCot stops in each country where your DD can make masks and interaction with the CMs from each country :)

Make sure you check out the jumping fountains outside HISTA.

She may like the Living with the Land in the Land building.

Also, the replacement to Ice Station Cool (can't remember the new name!) is er... cool - your DD can try the free samples of Coca Cola drinks from around the world :)

There is also a little water ride (Rio del Tiempo) in the Mexico pavilion that is fun - a bit like It's a Small World but Mexican themed :)

Look out for Miyuki the Candy Lady in Japan as well :)

The Spaceship Earth ride my be interesting to a 5yo - it's different anyway :)

The child acrobats perform in China and are worth seeing.

World Showcase is a long walk for a 5yo, so try stopping half way for a burger in the American pavilion :)

You can also catch the boats that travel across the Epcot lake to break up the tour of the WS into manageable chunks :)

If you go to Turtle Talk, make sure she thinks up a question to ask Crush. He might call on her if she raises her hand!

Mission:Space has a less intense experience now that might be more appropriate for a 5 yr. old.

There are often characters tucked away inside some of the shops. You can ask about times and locations at each country.
For example:
UK - Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Mary Poppins.
France - Belle, the Beast.
Morocco - Aladdin, Jasmine, Genie.
China - Mulan.
Norway - several Princesses at the Princess Breakfast.
Canada - bears from Brother Bear.

I'd say definately under $10. Another option is just to take an autograph book and go to each kidcot stop. They don't have to use a passport just ask the CM's to write a message in an autograph book. Also the masks/paper things (can't remember what they are now as they changed them this year) are free so you can always just do these. Also most of the characters in the pavillions are near the kidcot stops if they are tucked away which is cool.

I think Germany has Snow White or it might be Norway at certain times during the day. Mexico also has the three cabelero Donald Duck (the one in the large hat) inside the temple.

Kids like Mexico too as you go inside and there is a market place that's meant to be at night and is beautiful. Have a looksie.

Just thought of something else that may appeal :)

In the Japan shop you can buy pearls - basically you choose an oyster from a tank and the Japanese shop assistant opens the oyster and there is a pearl in side. They usually ring a gong if it's a large pearl :)
You can just buy the pearl or have it set in some jewellery :)

Your DD may like to select an oyster and see the pearl inside. It's fun to stand and watch even if you don't have a go :)

Our girls were 7 and 5 when we first visited WDW back in 1992 and Epcot was their favourite park - kids like to be doing things and there is so much interactive stuff there. They particularly enjoyed Communicore (now Innoventions) and Image Works (now What If Labs). The activities have changed, but the premise remains.

We all tried a snack ( we shared eg a churro from Mexico, funnel cake in USA etc) or candy from each country, don't have a lot though or you won't make it all the way round! ;)

We all had a fun time and can't wait to do this again this trip:thumbsup2

My "children" even when they were children, were like us and thought Epcot the best of all the parks.

Totally agree with Deb and Gill here, its been my daughters favorite park since she was 7 and now at 16 its still mine and her favorite park, loads to do, just pick up and map and work your way round and you will find loads for kids. Turtle Talk with crush being my absolute favorite :thumbsup2

Both my DDs count Epcot as their favourite park :)

They are now 7 and 10 and have always loved Epcot even on theor first trip when they were 3 and 6.

There are many things they love there, many of which are mentioned above but I think overall one of the reasons they love it there so much is because the entertainment is partly of their own making! You have to work a little to do some of Epcot, which makes it all the better, I think.

For example, in Innoventions they loved to "build" a robot online and then race it against other robots and finally "make" one for real with plastic robot parts (free!). There was lots to entertain them in Innoventions actually, with interactive games and experiences galore.

The KidCot Fuinstops are always a big hit as are the passports; they love talking to CMs in all the different countries, learn how to say "hello" in all the languages and to find out fun stuff. They also like looking round the shops at the unique purchases to that country, trying on the hats in Mexico and Norway etc ;) They love trying the food too :)

Other little gems are the fibre optic lights in the pavement in Future World, the water play areas, the self powered fan benches, the dancing fountains.....

And that's not even mentioning the rides!

Mine all loved Epcott, ages 8,9,12,15. Apart from the passports($10). which DS, 8, lost half way around and just HAD to have another one, he also brought a flag from every country, which are now on display in his bedroom.

The CM's from each country are all so kid-friendly! They love to teach a bit of their language.
Several years ago, I asked one of the young ladies at Norway how to say "thank you". I still get astonished looks each time I say "tusen tak" after a purchase! :thumbsup2
(pronounced, too-sen tock) :sunny:
