What Disney Resorts do the Universal Hotels compare to?

Are they deluxes or moderates? I am planning to split my trip and have never stayed at Universal before.

In my opinion (for PBH and HRH), they are deluxe. In fact, more deluxe than any Disney deluxe I have stayed at (except GF, never stayed there).

I have stayed at WL, Beach Club, Polly deluxe at WDW and also some moderates, and last year stayed at HRH. I would rate all the above resorts in this way: #1 HRH - All the other WDW resorts could be rated the same, all coming in at #2. And no way can WDW compare to FOL! This year staying at RP, with no side trips to WDW.

Not to step on Disney's toes, but the Loews hotels blow them out of the water. Our experience at the Hard Rock was first class all the way - on par with Ritz Carlton . Disney hotels come in second definately.

I am so glad to hear this, we have always stayed onsite at Disney and have almost felt "guilty" planning the Universal part of the trip!!! We have 3 nights in a king suite at the RPH at the end of the trip. I am having the usual pre-trip jitters, I need to keep reminding myself that I do this every time and it always is a wonderful trip. THANKS!

Staying on site at Universal is much better than Disney. The hotels are new, really upscale with lots of amenties. I also think they aren't overpriced like the Disney ones are as much if you get a good deal. Some people are getting 99 per night for Royal Pacific and that is unbeatable for what you're going to get. The unlmiited express passes is also a major perk. They aren't as big and sprawling as Disney, but the hotel rooms win hands down as do the proxoty to parks, parking, pools, restuarant close by, etc.

I highly recommend staying on site at Universal!

I'm guess I'm the lone ranger here. We just got back from a three day trip at the HRH and a four day trip at the Beach Club. Our stay at the HRH wasn't up to par compared to our stay at the Beach Club. Our problems are posted at HRH Problems. This was our second trip to the Beach Club and first to HRH. We won't be staying at HRH again but will possibly try one of the other resorts whenever we go back. Beach Club wins our vote.

Last October we split our stay between the Yacht Club and the HRH. I would say that the room that we stayed in at the HRH was much better than the room at the YC. The beds were really comfortable, plus they had down blankets. Also the rooms are
newer, so they had more of a modern feel to them.

As an overall hotel, however I preferred the YC. I loved the pool, restaurants and the Boardwalk location. The room we stayed in at the YC had a balcony which was nice. The service at the YC was unbeatable. Everybody was incredibly friendly and helpful.

We just got back from 3 nights at HRH and though it was a very nice hotel we loved our Dolphin stay at WDW more! The FOTL can't be beat at HRH, tho!;)

Okay, here's something that bothers me! You have one bad stay at a hotel & you're never gouing back???
Do you think Disney never makes mistakes? Here's a Beach Club one. We got married at the YC, stayed at the BC for three weeks. The day after check in two days before the wedding, we had a very noisey room, next to the service elevator. So the next day we asked to change rooms. He looks at me & says we are sold out, so I say, when a room is available can you call us so we can change rooms? He says "What do you want me to do, build you a room?" We were floored, I wanted to change the wedding! We were spending around $30,000! Not to mention we had over 144 nights booked within our party!
We have had countless Disney trips where bills have been wrong, rooms were dirty, and so on! But guess what? We still stay ther
I can't imagaine there is a hotel chain in the world that doesn't have some problems from time to time.
I think the rooms are way more luxurious then Disney rooms IMHO. I'm not a huge fan of HRH anyway, I prefer PBH, but the rooms themselves at HRH vertainly compare to a Disney Deluxe. Many more ammenities.

We stayed at YC three years ago. We spent $399 /night for a water view room. Turned out it was of the "quiet pool" out beside the parking lot. The room was nice enough but the hotel was very impersonal and employees were rather aloof.

We stayed at the HRH for $150. Even though the view was not of the pool it was of the waterway. Our room was twice as big as YC and the staff were so friendly with us and especially with our kids.

We've tried many Disney hotels but never seem to feel that we are getting enough for what we are paying. At HRH we feel that we a treated like royalty and paying Holiday Inn prices.

My kids now think that people are wasting their time and money going to Disney and I dare not even suggest spending a day there. However, the new Space Pavillion will surely get us over there for at least a day but we definately will be staying at Universal.

We're trying PBH in the fall and RPH in the spring. We can hardly wait.

While reading this thread, I was thinking that when I stayed at PBH, HRH, or the Swan, I always seem to get the room at the end of the hall. I have to walk and turn two or three times to get to my room. The All-Stars was different. The main building didn't seem more than a 5 minute walk from anywhere! :)

Just want to put my $0.02 in o this topic.

1st time on property. First time at IOA.

Stayed four nights at the HRH club level this past weekend. View of the old Hard Rock Cafe. Booked the trip before getting to read this forum. After reading it, I realized that the room would probably be too small for the five of us. It was cramped with the rollaway in the room. (Always stayed at the Poly concierge when the five of us were at WDW, The room seems much bigger there - has a day bed).

Have stayed at the Swan, Poly, YC, BWI and AKL concierge level at WDW. Ranking the foods at the concierges:

1st - BWI
1st- Poly
3rd - YC
4th - AKL

7th - HRH

300th+ - Swan

Had some screwups during checkin. Didn't check us into a club level the first time. Straightened that out. Keys wouldn't work in the elevator. Straightened that out. Ordered rollaway. Stayed in lounge until room was ready. Got to room. no rollaway. There was a rollaway in the hallway. Went back to lounge to ask if the rollaway was ours. They said probably not since they wouldn't just leave it in the hallway but called to check. They said they would call her back who in turn would call us. Never got a call. At 8:00 we claimed the rollaway in the hallway.

That was no big deal. However, at WDW when staying at concierge, you check in at the concierge desk on the conceirge level. At HRH you check in in the lobby with everybody else.

Impressed with the toiletries at the HRH. The towels however, are like rugs.

HOWEVER, overall (ignoring the chick in problems), the resort experience was nice. Comparable to the WDW deluxes.
