I know all the discounts to be gotten at WDW but
what about the DL hotels...are there any discounts for them??

we will have a rental car so if.....
not staying at a DL hotel and not within walking distance is it better to drive to the park or take a shuttle?? Are both horribly time consuming?

I hate to pay DL hotel rates when we are only doing 2 days there leaving rest of days for other things.

We are going to DL in April, and I haven't seen any posted discounts yet. There are hotels within walking distance. We finally decided to go with the Candy Cane Inn because it has gotten so many great reviews on this board and it is within walking distance of Disneyland (but they also have a shuttle).

This map was very helpful to me as I looked at our different options:

We are going to be at the Disneyland Hotel for part of our stay, but we are using DVC points. For Friday and Saturday night, we are moving to Candy Cane.

Enjoy your trip!

The ART shuttles are easy to use and very quick.

Off site hotels are so close by - you could just walk or hop on the ART shuttle ($2 per day) for a short 5 minute ride. off site is also a great deal cheaper ! I have done Priceline for under $40, Entertainment card rate for our upcoming trip for $45 a nite (HoJo's).

I have stayed at Disneyland Hotel at AP rate for $99 nite. APs are very affordable.Worth the cost if you might be visiting the parks again in the same year. Plus discounts on dining, purchases and Super Sunday rates at the park hotels.

which HoJo is that? I just tried to get ET rate there and they said there aren't any
My trip is in July

also which hotel did you get on Priceline?

Bummer about the ET card rate.. I heard it wasn't always available..

For Priceline check out
www.biddingfortravel.com

They can help you out for bidding and it has a list of possible hotels.
In the past I have had Marriot and Hilton - both are next to Convention Ctr.

From what I have read the Hyatt Regency Orange County in Garden Grove has been showing up alot lately for as low as $26 !
Or Crowne Plaza, West Coast Aanaheim for around $40.

Good luck!
You have plenty of time to win a bid!!
Go for a 3 star and bid out low.

I may just do that. My vacation is 10 days long and we were only doing 2 days in Disney anyway and we'll have a rental car. For me Quality is more important than location.

Now what would I bid for? a 4* in the DL area?
I would love the Hilton ::yes::

I would use the link posted previously to see which hotels Priceline is using and then call them direct before placing a bid to find out what extra charges would apply. Priceline isn't always the deal it appears to be when you have to add parking/resort fees (we found this out the hard way!).
