We have decided to buy a new camera for our up coming trip and cannot decide which one. Does anybody have any views on the following models.

Sony Cyber-shot W200 Digital Camera
Sony Cyber-shot T100 Silver Digital Camera

Thanks.

Hi There

I dont have any experience with the models you have wrote but I did have a Sony-Cybershot. It did not have Image Stabilization what I suggest you check for as its very fustrating taken a picture when you have massive hands :rotfl2:

If going to America I suggest you purchase a camera out there, you will save alot of money :thumbsup2

Also, I believe many people would reccomend you go with brand such as Canon or Nikon, both great brands in the camera world.

Regards.

Is having 12 MP important to you? Otherwise I'd suggest getting a camera with a better optical zoom. 12 MP is absolutely huge and more the double what the average person will ever need. If you are wanting to print poster size images then ignore my comments.

Just to add onto Steve's comment, I believe most "Compact" cameras or Bridge SLR camera's do not need more than around 5-6MP, alot of its in the lense. Dont take my word for it though, I could be wrong :goodvibes

I would full agree, I went for the Olympus E-1 for that exact reason, the Olympus lenses are fantastic.

Now waiting for the E-3 to come out in October. The only problem with Olympus high end cameras is that there is only one shop in Orlando that deals in them. None of the usual suspects has them, so I buy my extras from the London camera Exchange, UK based sjhops which give great discounts.

Take a look at the reviews on this site:

I've never had a Sony digital camera, I prefer Canon :)

I also suggest going into your local camera store (Jessops?) and actually handling the camera to see if it suits you. Check out the menus and controls etc. to make sure they are easy to use.

Just bought a new compact digital camera after a lot of research online etc.

We went for the panasonic lumix FX50 which fitted the bill and wallet!

As mentioned above, don't be seduced by the amount of MP thinking you'll notice better quality shots, the best option to get the highest amount of optical zoom possible.

From searching around, 6MP and 3x Optical zoom is about the standard for compact digital cameras.
