Just wondering what you all packed your park stuff in for the day? Did you buy special backpacks that would be worth reccomending? Or did you just through your stuff in a bag you already had at home? I am assuming the bag you pack your day things in needs to be something you can take on rides with you..right? Any ideas would be great.
Thanks as always.

Well you have probably sparked the great backpack/fannypack debate.........

We bring a backpack. I actually just got one with insulated lining for our cold drinks, but my plain old backpack has served us well in the past. I carry snacks and juice boxes for the kids (though I dont think I can get away with that much longer as my babies grow up), rain ponchos from target, some ziploc bags (cus you never know), and a tiny notebook with things like PS numbers and parade times on it.

My kids are a little bigger so we don't pack so much anymore. I use a regular back pack, with some water, snacks and sunblock. I carry a fannypack with our money, tickets etc. I don't take the back pack on the rides with us. My mom uses a wheel chair when we are there ( the heat plus all the walking makes it hard for her to breath) so we just leave it on the back of the chair. If someone is that thirsty and wants our water... they can have it!!

I used a regular backpack for our 1st trip there (May2005) I would suggest whatever you out inside to put in ziplocs in case of rain or something spilling. I have sweaters for my DDs (in case it was cold in rest), ponchos, sunscrren, bug spray, band-aids, I even put their autographs books in a gallon ziploc in case they got wet. It also made things easy to find, If I needed aspirin or something, I just went to the bad with the medicine-type stuff in it, instead of searching through the whole backpack. Anyway, just my cents! Have fun!

We have a family of five and I have a small backpack and a small insulated bag for water. My kids will just have their money and passes in their wallets (they are grown) and we will all take turns carrying the backpack and water. :flower:

We did the backpack first day and realized we did not need everything we kept packing. So, we switched to the fanny pack. I will say it depends on how much you really need during the day. However, just a quick idea....I packed my girls outfits in ziploc bags for each day and labeled them. Monday...with everything from undies to hair accessories each day. It really made it easy and helped every morning. Plus, the dirty clothes went right back into the ziploc bag at the end of the day. Have a great trip! :cool1:

.

I like the idea of a waist pack (fannypack), but with two little ones in diapers, who are neater eaters with sippy cups and bibs, we can't do that quite yet. :sad2: OTOH, we will have two lightweight strollers with handles (off of which we can hang a backpack or cooler bag) and baskets, so we've got instant containment of our stuff:-) We joke now that the strollers are most useful for moving things, not little people!

My parents might do a waist pack but my sister's family probably needs a few more things with them JIC (meds, snacks, water bottle etc)

Last trip, I bought a tote bag/purse that holds everything... change of clothes for DS, wipes, sunscreen, rain ponchos and umbrellas, extra fillm etc. DH also used hip pouch for camera, lip balm etc. We'd take the hip pouch onto the rides and leave the tote in the stroller while we rode. When we no longer need a stroller, I guess I go back to my trusty backpack. But Dh STILL has to wear that hip pouch !! :rotfl:

Thanks everyone..I found a combination of the two at Dicks this weekend. Its a jansport half pint..but it goes around my chest like a messenger bag would..but it has bigger compartments, and was only like 24 bucks. I hope that will work well. I was going to bring a cooler *soft sided* into the parks as well..but now I am wondering if it will be worth the extra lugging??? Probobly still will bring it, and hope it doen'st get stollen while on the rides. Thanks for everyones input!

We use a waistpack for stuff we can't afford to lose (tickets, money, id, camera, etc.) A back pack for diapers, wipes, first aid type stuff, etc.
And a small diaper bag that the hospital/formula companies give you for free as a small cooler w/ water, juice packs, and some snacks. We only take the waist pack on the rides with us, leave the rest in our dbl stroller.
Don't know what we'll do when we don't need the stroller for our kids! LOL

Have to go with the fanny pack.
I loss stuff to easy.
I don't have to worry that I might leave it behind.
They are ugly.

We also use fanny packs. On our first trip when DS was barely 3 and not completely reliable with his toileting, the pack had enough room for one pullup and a couple wipes in a ziploc. We always went back to the room mid-day and restocked if necessary.
We are light packers though!

I use this pack when we go out for day hikes and the last time we went to Disneyland...

It's a terrific bag and it doesn't look too "dorky" like a regular fanny pack... There is room for everything I need for my family of 4 and is very comfortable. It also does well on the "wet rides". I still bring a plastic Ziploc or two just in case.

This next April/May, I will be using this pack for our 8 days at WDW, my hubbie will have his water hydration pack on, we are getting kid-size hydration packs for DS9 and DD6 so we aren't dragging out their water bottles every 5 minutes, plus each kid will have a travel wallet around their neck that goes under your shirt. I wore one when I backpacked around Europe and they are great for keeping stuff safe. Now if I could just figure out where I'm gonna get my water from.............

When the kids were little, we used a larger diaper bag for everything. Now I use either a tote bag with longer straps or a backpack. I also carry a fanny pack and as my kids have gotten older, I've added one for each of them as well to carry some money, sun glasses, a walkie talkie and sometimes their own water bottles. We can usually carry the tote or the backpack onto most rides, or we leave them in the stroller when we've had that along. Everything important is in one of the fanny packs or DH's wallet.
