When you were a kid?

I loved Barbies. I had like every barbie....Western barbie, twirly curls, pretty in pink, malibu, etc. I still have them in my garage somewhere.

I am kind of sad DD doesn't really like them. I guess I should feel proud, because she is kind of beyond them and more independant and athletic. She likes sports and riding bikes and stuff.

I always wanted the barbie dream house and never got it:(
But my mom made me this one and we put real carpet remnants and wallpaper in it and it was pretty cool. I used to spend HOURS playing with it. Maybe I can blame barbie for my body image problems;)

What did you spend most of your time playing with when you were a kid??

What ever my brothers allowed me to have.
Had Barbies, but they all got haircuts and black marker makeovers.
Had an easy bake over, but the lightbulb was always missing.
Had light-bright, then the pegs got snapped off in it.
Had baby furniture, but they got sat it and squashed.
I have 4 brothers and no sisters, can you tell?

LOL, you sound bitter!

I was pretty much an only. My sisters and brothers lived with their other parent. My parents were both married before, and the other spouse had the kids, so they met and had me and I only saw my siblings, who were 12-18 years older than me once in a while.

I was a big Barbie fan. One of my friends and I got together regularly and played Barbies even into Middle School (but it was our secret!)

I was also a huge board game fan and I still am. As a child I loved Clue, Battleship, Life, and PayDay.

Now I play Trivial Pursuit, Pictionary, Scattegories and Taboo.

I was a Barbie girl too. Had to have the camper and the corvette and pool. I never had the Barbie Townhouse, I had the Charlie's Angles Hideaway House:D and I had the Farrah make up head, not the Barbie one.

I also used to love to play school. I had a chalkboard in my playroom and I would be in there all day long playing school, would go outside for recess, have lunch. Guess my desire to be a teacher started young, I only wish I would have followed through with it:( I remember one of the best gifts I ever got was a real teachers grade/attendance book, I was so excited, and easily amused!!

I was really into riding my bike and playing outside.

I also remember playing a lot of board games with my mom.

Barbie and her (I forget was this her sister) Skipper. My mom and dad saved all my Barbbie stuff that I had, I never had a house car or anything like that but these girls lived in my house and in my life. when I was 20 I put a note in my case saying something to this effect " These dolls grew up with me and will be for my daughter when I have a child. But I had what I wanted more, a son so the dolls are still packed away. I don't have a neice so I am waiting till I have someone special in my life to pass them on. :D

Loved to play with Barbie (I had the townhouse but my dad had to bolt it to the wall because it kept falling over on me!) but we only played with her when it rained. If it was nice outside we were always building a fort or playhouse in the woods(we stole a lot of my moms pots and pans). If we weren't doing that we were collecting cat tails from the marsh to smoke (pretend cigars), riding our bikes through the paths to each others houses or taking the horses out for a ride. Also loved board games when inside, I had all of those little cheap ones that were about $2, scooby doo, adams family etc. I even played them by myself sometimes which my mom found very funny. I'm the youngest of 6 but the next older than me was 5 years older so they didn't have much time for me and I learned early on to amuse myself and still do :D .

Hmm, the barbie board game connection.

Board games would have been my second choice. Still today I love board games. Sometimes my GF's and I will get together and play games all night. We are such geekettes:teeth:

Ourdoor: Kickball, hide-n-seek, making forts out of cardboard boxes and blankets, used to like to catch daddy-long-legs but then would bum out when the legs fell off in my sweaty palms :p . We also used to spend a lot of time at the public pool in the summer, and sledding in the winter.

Indoor: Dolls (house), Barbies (all the girls would bring their planes, campers, homes, etc., and we'd have a big Barbie city)

Outdoors I rode my bike alot, played on our swing set, did lots of cartwheels, kickball, etc.

Indoors I played house and school and played with my Barbies.

Barbies here also. I had a pretty cool house. My favorite was the pink bed I had with the canopy and light up globe in the middle.

I was quite fond of the American Girl collection as well. I had Samantha, a girl of today, two of Samantha's beds (they had to match!), the nightstand, school desk, all the outfits...shall I go on? Those dolls were like my children, I tucked them into bed and put them in their PJs every night. I saved all the original packaging, and they now fill a closet. Hopefully my daughter will enjoy them...watch me get a tomboy, or have all sons ;)

This was (is) the best toy ever invented!!!!!!!

I have 2 sisters, so we had every Barbie and Barbie accessory imaginable when we were growing up! We used to spend hours setting everything up and then not have enough time to play because we had spent all of our time setting up!!

KJo....I was the same way! I had the Barbie Dream House....ooooohhhhh, aaaahhhhhh;) , the corvette, the huge pool with the slide and the shower.....and tons of Barbies. Unfortunately much of it got passed down to younger sisters and not much is left today....or my sister has it which bugs me....she doesn't even have kids yet but won't give it back!

We also played store, school, house, etc. Once my best friend and I made a store outside using boards and our bikes. Then we put every perfume bottle, lipstick, nail polish, barrettes, etc. that we each owned and pretended to sell them.

One time we decided to make chocolate chip cookies. So we got all the ingredients together and mixed them up.....BUT her mom was not home so we couldn't turn on the oven. Well, what the heck, it's Florida, the sidewalk is pretty hot....let's try that.....no luck. Huh. Let's just put a bunch of weird stuff in it and try to get someone else to eat it....in goes the mustard, ketchup, worcestershire sauce.....we did end up getting another girl to eat some and she said it was good!

I played with all my dolls--Ginny (my favorite), Betsy McCall, Betsy Wetsy, Poor Pitiful Pearl, Chatty Cathy, Shirley Temple (yeah--I'm old!), Little Miss Revlon. Then when Barbie arrived on the scene, she was added to the gang.

I alo had many paper dolls. which I adored! :D And my beloved dollhouse.

Oh! Almost forgot--I had a wonderful Daisy air rifle, too!

My very favorite toy was my doll, creatively named Baby Doll. Boy did I LOVE that doll!

I also played with My Little Ponies all the time. One Christmas I even got this super cool ranch style mansion for them. I was overjoyed! :teeth:

Barbies, dolls, coloring books and those things that stuck to a board with a scene like say it was Disney princesses then the scene would be a castle and you could put them on then take them off. Does anyone know what I mean. I don't think I did a very good job describing it.

My favorite toy of all time- Mrs. Beasley. I still have her and love her. DD's think she'a creepy.

Gette88, are you talking about ColorForms? I had tons of those, my mom hated them because they ended up everywhere.

I was more into Cabbage Patch Kids. I had about 15 of them at one time and still probably have 5 or 6 of them today. I had the clothes, the doll bed, the animals, and everything else that went with them. I also did collect barbies but not as much. I now am more of a barbie collecter.
