What did you pack that you did not use? *Update*

hello, we leave is 2 days for our cruise. Do I need to bring Beach towels or does the ship provide them. Thank you.

I have to say I have always used my extension cord....same problem with my hairdryer plug as Kathy and I always bring at least one full size beach towel....I hate DCL's small towels...or I will buy a full-size one onboard as one of my souviners.

I also always use my small travel alarm clock, not for the alarm, but for the large, illuminated numbers. I like to know what time it is when I get up in the night and the ships clock did not cut it!!!

No, you don't need to bring them unless you like to use your own!
Have a great time!

So is there a retractable clothesline in the bathroom to hang wet bathing suits? I think I read that somewhere. We don't have a verandah room and I'll bring clips along if I can hang my swimsuits from a clothesline.

There is a retractable line over the shower in the room for you to hang wet stuff on.
Stuff that I took and didn't use was the suction cups with hooks. Thought I might need them to hang stuff on, but didn't. Also, didn't need as many beach towels as I thought. Didn't need to take our own laundry stuff (Tide, etc.)
Also, someone recommended taking the over the door thingy, but I didn't need it since it was just me and the DH. However, if there's a family of 3 or 4, I can see where they might need it!

didn't use-extension cord, hair dryer (the ships one was just fine for us) duct tape, video camera-only took it out once, air freshener, nightlight, to many shoes, only wore flip flops during the day and dress sandals to dinner each night. My packing list this time is a heck of a lot shorter than the past cruise...live and learn!!

Sun screen! Lots and lots of sun screen! I burn easy so I loaded up on it. One thing to remember about the underwatercameras. Make sure you keep the rubber band "handle" that usually comes with the camera. I did not realize how usefull it was until the time I threw it away with out thinking and I had trouble holding on to the camera while snorkling!

This site (which I have become addicted to) opened my eyes to two things. Extension cords and duck tape. Since I live local I never had to face damaged luggage from the airline, my sister will be traveling with me in Aug and he has a lot of hair, an extension cord for her personal hair dryer might be needed.

I also have packed way too many clothes. At the first diner I break the ice by telling my table mates you will probably see me in this most nights at dinner!

I never thought about clothes pins either, I have a verandah is there a place to attached it so they don't blow away?

I have also heard of people who share suitcases, before you laugh here me out. A husband and wife are traveling they each have a suitcase, in each case they each have clothes. So if one of the cases is lost in trouble they will both at least have a change of clothes. This theroy works as long as both cases are not lost!

Just my random thoughts.

I definitely packed way too many clothes. I never used the extension cord or duct tape, but I did use the clothes pins and over the door shoe holder.

Didn't use walkie talkies or the alarm clock (might have used the clock if it had been a light up kind). We also didn't use the clothes pins.

We did like having the over door shoe holder and the extension cord came in handy when drying my hair.

Packed way too many clothes.

Ok...am I the only one who does not know what in the world 'sea lice' is?
From the boards:

What are these critters we call Sea Lice?

First off, they are not lice. They are the larval form of the Thimble Jelly Fish. Thimble Jellies look like a large brown thimble that would fit on your thumb. Don't waist your time looking for the larva as they are rather small. The larva may still be present even if there are no mature Thimble Jellies to be seen. A more proper term for exposure to these larvas would be Sun Bather's Eruption (SBE). Each larva is covered by nematocyst. These are the guys that cause the SBE. When there is a change in the larva's environment, (i.e. going from salt to fresh water, drying out, feeling trapped between your skin and swimwear) the nematocysts fire. When they fire they inject a substance into your skin that causes the reaction. The reaction leaves you with itch red bumps. These are most often found in areas that were covered with swimwear.

didn't use...air freshener

With all that great food on board you didn't need any air freshener? My DW may want to travel with you instead of me! She's thinking we may need a verandah with an exhaust fan.

I really liked having air freshener! I brought an Oust fan (battery operated) and threw it away when we packed to leave. Sometimes the bathroom smelled "off" just by nature of the kind of toilet it is, and it was nice to turn on the fan and have a fresh scent.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Jrsy Boy.....thanks for the laughs! Really needed that this morning. Did you ever try lighting a match? Works great and you can always keep a book in your pocket in case you can't quite make it back to your cabin after the buffet and need to use the general facilities!:rotfl:

Okay, the few above posts are somewhat gross, but true!

I'm glad someone brought it up, because that's why I packed lysol spray!

There was a thread a few weeks ago about bringing 'sanitizers' on board. I mentioned how I'd packed the lysol, but that it was confiscated from my luggage (dangerous because of an aerosol spray.)

I hadn't really packed the lysol for CLEANING, but to spray to kill the germs which cause the odors. (As the commercial says.)

I wondered if anyone else felt the same way about too much 'family togetherness,' especially when it comes to having to share the same toilet.

(Thank you DCL, for split bathrooms!) :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Just a hint of "home"...I'm planning to take along a can of Yankee "Clean Cotton" air freshener because that is the scent of candle I burn in our home. I think it will serve double duty...obviously to mask any unwanted odors but also to give the stateroom that "homey" smell.

Sorry to intrude on this thread but needed to ask.. has anyone ever taken too much bottled water or wine etc.? I'm cruising in May and plan on taking some.
Thanks,
Micky

:cool1: It is entirely impossible to pack too much bottled water or wine! :cool1: I say, the more the better...these are two of my staples in life so I couldn't go wrong with these! Are you asking if anyone has brought so much they couldn't consume it all, or that DCL staff said, "no way" to the amount? Just curious. :flower:

In addition....can anyone tell me if they truly needed much cash for like room service tips (small bills) or is cash just something I shouldn't worry about because of a credit card?

Thanks..... :earsgirl:
