WHat did you find with the military discount?

May 24-June 1 POFQ Std room-$1012.48. This is better than AP rate by $82.00 !

Nov 29- Dec 6
WL Courtyard View, Bunkbeds (which will be so great with a teenage girl and an 11 yr old boy- I was dreading bedtime if they had to share a bed)- $189 night (usually $315)

Booked this week- can't wait! :thumbsup2

Trying to decide if we are going to go ahead and purchase single day tickets for that last day (since the special tickets are only 5 days)...

May 16-22... POR standard room, including taxes $138 a night.. and that includes the extra $15 for additional adult in the room..... rack rate is $190 plus taxes... plus the additional $15 for extra adult ... I am figuring it saved us about $100 per night...

I saw some people were able to book more than one room with a single military member. Anyone do that?

I think I am stupid when it comes to this stuff. DH was in Navy for 4 years. He thought he was considered a veteran (because we qualified for VA loan and other things). But when we tried to get the military ticket deals for him (for veterans), Disney said he didn't qualify? I thought surely DH would know if he was a vet or not, and he really thought he was. I can't figure out why he's not.

Your husband is a Veteran, but the offer does not includes all veterans. It is for active duty and retired military. Retired usually means over 20 yrs of service.

10 days in a 2 bedroom villa at the new BayLake Towers 6 adults $5208 includes tax and insurance

If you have a retired or active military ID. My hubby was allowed to retire after 18 years with 20 year benefits :) Even the military does downsizing LOL

I booked 2 separate trips, one in May for DH and DS's birthdays, got 2 rooms at ASMusic with 2 nights dining plan for $690, and I got 5 nights and 6 days in September with dining plan for 4 people at CBR for 1180. Not too shabby I think!! I priced out the september tickets full price package with tickets and it was over $3100...so there are definedly savings there. We're using the 5 day tickets in September, just one day tickets in May, DS will be free!

Hi, Does anyone know if there are Blackout days?? Thanks, Joan

As you mentioned, it's the ID card that is the key. It's a photo ID, issued from the government. I think it would be a nightmare for Disney to attempt to verify eligibility for this discount any other way.

All service is sincerely appreciated, and I hope that those that don't qualify for this, will research other offers, as well as the AAA room only discount. Who knows--maybe there will be more great offers available to the general public as the year goes on. Fingers Crossed for all!!!

I had mentioned to the reservationist do we need to bring DD214 and she said no clue what that is all you have to show is a valid military ID. Don't all the ID's pretty much look alike? The only difference is my hubby's is blue where mine is a tanish color.

We have free dinning in Sept. form a bounceback from last Sept. We also qualify for the 40% off the military offer. After running the numbers, we kept our free dinning and are staying at CBR. The difference was about 75 dollars. But with the free dinning we had to buy 2 one day passes. It still game out better. We are going to take advantage of the tickets, I will trade one of the passes in for my companion ticket, and then it should only be 25 dollars. So if you do not qualify for the military promo, check out other options. There are great deals out there right now and I am sure there will be more to come.

Does retired DOD qualify for the reduced rate? Do with parents in Dec and dad is retired DOD- trying to find best hotel for cheapest rate :)

Is this an always discount or something speciall they are running right now? DH myself and DD are thinking about a trip in 2010 which would include DH's family. DH's brother is active Navy (almost 19 yrs in) and I am just curious! Thanks!
