What did you do while the snow was falling?

Two friends of mine were supposed to get married yesterday. The couple decided to postphone the wedding until next Saturday. The bridal party stayed at the hotel the night before so we were in the hotel with nothing to do for the entire day.

We first went to the mall (right beside the hotel) and had the wedding lunch at Chick-Fil-A.

Then we went to see Santa and get pics of the couple as well as the bridal party (Santa looked happy to see us, the mall was busy but nobody wanted to see him!)

We had a massive snowball fight outside of the mall enterance.

Went back to the hotel and called restaurants, nobody was open but we found a sports bar about to close (also right next to the hotel) that was willing to stay open for an extra hour for us. They ended up staying open for about 3 extra hours for us.

After the bar closed, we went back to the hotel, ate dinner, and chilled in the bridal suite for the rest of the night.

Now we get to wait and relax until the wedding on Saturday. We ended up getting 17" of snow after all was said and done.

What fun things did you do?

Fun! Sounds like you all made the best of a tough situation. We headed over to our neighbors and had a blizzard party:dance3:

Drove to work, worked 6.5 hours, made sure my staffing would be OK for the weekend, and drove home. By the time I got home---took 2 hours to drive 20 miles, I was too tired to do much of anything.

Today, I made lasagna, and am watching football. I will be doing a bit of baking after the game.

I have a feeling if you check back in 9 months there will be a few more DDs and DSs belonging to some DISers... :rolleyes1

Previous winters, I spent hours and hours out in the driveway with a stupid shovel trying to clear my way to the road, only to have the road crew come by and toss all the road stuff back into my driveway. I have a tractor with a plow, but it is strictly a yard machine as I've found out and can't plow snow further than 6 inches before I have to shovel it away...

This year, I have a brand new snowblower sitting in the garage. I'm in mid to north western PA and I'm use to 12 inch, 18 inch, even 24 inch snowfalls. So, while you all were panicking down south with this reasonably large snowfall (nothing that you really need to panick about :rotfl:) I sat in the doorway of my garage with a brand new snowblower fuming at all you folks while I looked at the wimpy 2 inches of snow that we had.

Dang all you southerners and your snowstorm. I looked like a moron, but I fired up the snowblower and cleared the driveway anyways :goodvibes. It barely did anything to my 2 inches of snow, LOL.

We only caught the edge of that storm. I can't wait until I have some real snow to clear out of the driveway.

My boyfriend and I went to the mall before the snow started coming down hard..we hoped the snow would discourage others from going to the mall but it seems like everyone had the same idea..the mall was packed!

Got back, snuggled under the covers and watched tv until we got tired :)

Last week, I made plans with my 7 yr old niece. Her big sister was going to a sleep over party down the block, so Dana was going to come to my house so she & I could have a sleep over ourselves. The girls mom & dad were going to go out to dinner with some friends & have them come to the house for drinks.

Well, it started snowing in my area about 1 PM. My sister sent me a text about a half hour later saying their friends cancelled so Dana wasn't coming. I was a bit disappointed. Well, so was Dana, and since it wasn't snowing hard at that time, her dad said he'd drive her. So I got another text asking if that was OK, and it was. So Dana arrived about 3:30...we had a great time. We ate lots of snack food, had a spaghetti dinner, watched Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, ate ice cream. Then she went to sleep at 9:30. She woke up at 7, I made her some waffles & she went out to play in the snow while I shoveled. Her mom picked her up about noon. A nice way to pass the snowy time!
