What did you do in Ketchikan?

Something with totem poles BORING
than lumberjack show. Lumberjack show was good. I don't have money coming out of my butt so have to go with the weak excursions sometimes.
But did you check out those biceps? The show provides balance to Skagway's Red Onion.

We did a private tour with a local in the morning. She took us to see some nature places and on a walk through a national forest. She pointed out local plants and had a "scavenger" hunt for the kids. Then she took us to the totem pole place. It was a low key but nice excursion. She had us back in town in time to see the lumberjack show, which the kids LOVED.

I would have loved to do a float plane but DH is claustrophobic and can't do little planes.

We did a bicycle tour...about 12 miles of biking...a little bit, but not too hilly. Along the way, we stopped at the totem pole place and a museum in downtown Ketchikan.

We did the DCL excursion to the George Inlet Lodge. It involved a bus ride through town to board a boat near the lodge. We took the boat past some eagle nests. Our guide brought frozen fish and called the eagles who flew quite close to the boat to catch their dinner. It was amazing. We then stopped to pick up some crab pots so the guide could show us how the dungeness crab is caught. Those who wanted to took turns holding the crab--one of the best pictures of the trip is of my 4 year old grandson holding a crab looking so pleased with himself. We returned to the lodge for an all you can eat feast of really fresh dungeness crab. So delicious. It was not inexpensive but we all really, really enjoyed it.
