What day of the week do you arrive?

We seem to always travel from Sunday through Friday, wherever we go.

It seems to be the perfect amount of "togetherness" time. :)

I try for Wednesday or Thursday that way I get a week0end at the parks since I go in the off-season they only have later hours on Friday and Saturday. Also you only can see Spectromagic on the Week-ends. Also the plance fares are cheaper if you travel mid week to mid week.

We are going Saturday to Saturday to get flight time with Spirit that I wanted.

You might want to try what I did...I knew we would be gone for 7 days, so I literally went through every possible option of what day we would leave - all 7 days! -and in our scenario, the cheapest time to go was from Tuesday until Monday. The worst fares were anything that involved coming home or leaving on a Fri, Sat or Sun. Our work schedules didn't matter, so we were just trying to find the best price. And, Expedia was cheaper than using the WDW website.

We travel to WDW often near the Thanksgiving holiday and it almost always works to our advantage to actually fly ON the holiday. This year flying on the holiday was almost $180 cheaper than the day before or after. We had intended to only go for one week, the Saturday after (to Saturday) but for $360 in savings we were able to book CSR for the holiday weekend and call it even -- if you call an extra three days at WDW even, lol. Sure, it makes for a real favor for a 1 1/2 hour ride to the airport but most people don't have their dinner until afternoon anyways and we fly out at 9 a.m. I think, so here's hoping :rotfl:

For some reason, it has never made a difference on the return. I think the first and second week of December are slow travel weeks and so maybe we could fly home Fri/Sat/Sun without any difference as long as it was not during the holiday prime time.

In January we wanted to go on a Thursday and come back on a Monday but they wouldn't allow us to use our vouchers those days. We had to go on a Wednesday and come home on a Sunday. The price of the flights stayed the same IF you looked them up by fares and went with the less desirable flight times.

I have gotten some Travelocity alerts for low fares through May if you fly on a Tuesday or Wednesday. DH doesn't have vacation time awarded until after Labor Day so that didn't help us.

In October we are going on a Friday evening and coming back on a Sunday morning. I was able to find the low fares by looking by "fare" as opposed to "flight time". Not that the fares were truly low, just the lowest offered for those dates and times on that carrier. I actually found the fares to be rather high, but they kept going UP so we went ahead and bought the tickets.

We live in VA & split the trip into 2 days. Start driving on Friday and stop that night in GA. Then arrive in Orlando Saturday afternoon or evening, depending on how much time we spend in Daytona Beach on the way there. So we're actually going to the WDW parks, shops, etc. (and Sea World) Sunday through that Friday. Leave Saturday afternoon, travel back that Sunday. It's always worked pretty well for us, espec. since we avoid the Saturday crowds that I'm assuming exist.

We when head down to WDW, we always travel on a Tuesday evening. Stay in a cheap hotel booked through Priceline and check into the the Grand Floridian on Wednesday morning at 7am.

This gets us cheap airfare, a good nights rest and a full day at WDW on the first day wihtout any lines for check in.

DH works weekends (SAT,SUN,MON) so we normally leave after he gets off work on Mon. That way we can get down there and start fresh the next day. Then we return 10 days later on Thurs. at the latest time possible. This allows us to spend the day wrapping things up. Then we get home late Thurs night and he has Friday before having to go to work again on Sat.

We usually arrive on Wednesday for our 4 night stays and Sunday's for anything longer than that.
