I just finished my first month of membership in Curves and I am pleasantly surprised by the results.

In one month I lost 6.25" total; 1.5 pounds; and 3.21% body fat pounds. They say since I am at my goal that I am turning my fat into lean muscle, hence the reason why I didn't lose more weight. But I really can't complain because 6.25 total inches lost is amazing.

I am committed to Curves for a year so I will continue to update on this thread the beginning of every month. I don't expect to lose a lot more weight, although 3-4 pounds would be nice, but I would really love to continue to lose some inches and firm up the loose flesh from all of this weight loss.

Great news for you! Way to go!

:yay: :yay: :yay:

:cool1: Great news and way to go.

On Wednesday my neighbor and I are going to Curves to check it out. They said we get a one week free trial, and then they shared the month-by-month cost and the yearly cost. I think if I like it , I will sign up for the yearly program.

Thanks for sharing your success, it is a definite motivator.

good for you!! I tried Curves and lost 18 pounds, hit a plateau and gave up. Now I go to Simply Fit, a womens' club that is similar to Curves but more intense. One thing that I found at Curves (maybe it is different now??) is that they didn't change their resistance on their circuit workout machines- it was always one resistance. At Simply Fit you exercise one week on low resistance, next week is medium, and then high resistance the next week. This gives you a chance to firm up even quicker by the variation. Plus at the Curves that I went to they pushed low carb, low carb, low carb- how is it now?? I really enjoy Simply Fit. They have dance class workouts, yoga, pilates, step classes and so much more. They even have 3 treadmills and 2 elliptical machines. Good Luck though in what you are doing? I have noticed an increas of energy and I have been back at exercising only a week now- already lost 6 pounds- woohoo!!

Thanks Tiger Lily. It is amazing to me at this point in my journey that I have a renewed outlook and a strong desire to do even better and Curves seems to be the catalyst right now.

Oreo Cookie, I came to Curves on a free three-week fitness study and I liked it so much that I joined up. The great thing about Curves is you really can control your workout, some days I charge hard, others I just do the circuit at a slow pace and on the days I have more than 30 minutes I go more than the alloted circuit, you are in control. Good luck on your trial, I hope you enjoy it as much as I am.

lustergirl, they aren't pushing any kind of plan or way of eating on me as I am a Weight Watcher and made that clear from the get-go. Not sure if it is different for others, but I haven't had any problems. And no, they don't adjust the resistance, but I have found I get to control the intensity and the amount of time I spend on the circuit, which makes the difference for me. Congrats on your most recent weight loss, that is awesome.

I missed my July measure so I waited until August to measure, so totals are a two month total this time around. I lost an additional 6", but I gained 1.5 pounds, which I think could be turning fat to muscle. My three months grand total is a loss of 12".....not too shabby. Will keep you all posted when I can.

Tiggerlover - Great job!!!!!!!!!! 6.25 inches is awesome!:thumbsup2

Wow! Congratulations Tiggerlover!!!! 6 more inches is amazing! I'm so happy for you!!!

Thank you both so much. I have been so committed to this I am happy to see the results. My only hope now is to see MORE results in my problem areas!! I seem to be whittling my waist away and my hips and stomach seem to be moving at a snails pace. But I guess it will come in due time, I just have to keep working it!!

Wish I could lose some inches in my waist. Every time I take my measurements it's my bust measurement that goes down! :scared1: That's the one place I wouldn't mind keeping a little curve! Congrats again!

I guess different bodies loss in different places, just like we all lose at different rates. I seem to be losing the most inches in my waist and my hips seem to lose ever so slowly!!

Tiger Lily, thanks!!!

I weighed and measured again this weekend and I am down 1.5 pounds and another quarter inch, so I am down a total of 12-1/2 inch since I started. Can't complain with that.

Hi TL!!!

I just saw this post and wanted to say YAY for you!! :cool1: :yay:  :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 This is awesome for you!!

Don't you feel great doing Curves! August was 6 months for me. I had to have emergency abdominal surgery in Aug and need 4 more weeks to recover before I can work out again. I was doing it with WW too. I can tell you that from doing Curves, my surgery and recovery went a lot easier. My stomach was fit, so having it opened via my previous C section went well. I can't wait to get back to it!!

My DD (13) does Curves and WW with me, so for now I have to sit and watch her at Curves :( Its hard to accept that I am back over 8 weeks in my program, I was going soo strong and have lost so much muscle so far :( The first 2 weeks out of surgery, I had lost 6lbs!!! Then I evened off to what I was before minus 1/2 lb. Right now maintaning is all I can hope for. But I will be healthy so that is key!

I love Curves too! Oh and did you know they are coming out with a new "tool" that will be like a scanner card that you scan on each machine, it will have your body info on it and it will be able to help you target certain areas. So say you want the hips to go, then it would let you know what level of intensity you need to do and lets you know if you are or are not at that level. It is only going to the Curves that meet certain criterias right now due to the expense of it. But you may be able to find one near you.

Best of luck! Keep us posted!

Hey Miss Missy, glad to see you posting. I imagine it has been rough the last few weeks for you, but if you are maintaining while being on limited duty than kudos to you, that is awesome! I heard about the new machine and the swipe card and I have heard that my Curves is one that is supposed to receive it, but last I inquired they didn't know when that would happen. I think it would be great because I am losing all of my weight in my waist and barely anything in my hips and I would love to target that part of my body for sure. Here's hoping the next four weeks pass quickly for you and that you are back on the circuit again soon.
