What color are the shutters on your brick house?

Our shutters need painting. They are now white.

I'm toying with other colors. I see white, black, dark green on similar houses. I think I like the dark green best.

What about you??? Other suggestions that have worked for you?

Ours are black and we have a bright red front door

First house we repainted the shutters a "wood" type color, since they were wood shutters. They were a "rustic look".

Second house they were hunter green. It was the 90's.;)

Third house we had them stained the same color as our wood fence.

This house is white and the shutters are black.

What color is your brick? Red, brown, sand, pink?

On our old house, which has a partial red brick front, the shutters are white-as is the trim on the house.

Everyone here has dark shutters on their brick houses. We live in the land of all brick houses (which I like a lot!). When we bought this place they were painted blue/gray and I'm not crazy about it. When it's time to re-paint (soon!) I'll switch them over to straight black, with other black accents (the porch lights, etc). To me that's a timeless look.

You know that is a timeless look. My problem is I really don't like black! So I'm struggling with the decision.

Do consider full sun etc. On my old house, I had full morning sun and my shutters would fade quickly. :(

I have no shutters on my new house. I always hated picking the color out and painting them.

What color is your roof? Our old house we had a dark green roof and shutters with white trim. Our current house, black roof and shutters and white trim. And our first house had a brown roof with little specks of blue so we went with blue shutters. I think it looks better if the shutters are an accent and not the focal point, kwim?

Our roof is brown. The bricks are a reddish brown, and the front 2 story entranceway to the house is Indiana limestone .

How would it look if you went shutter-less?

Are the white columns part of the 2 story entranceway? Or is there a porch with columns?

You know, it might look OK without shutters.

There's a porch with the columns. They have white aluminum siding and so can't be painted.

We have a red brick house with taupe for the trim. Our shutters are green-black and our front door is a reddish brown (think burnt sienna on a crayon). I was at the grocery store and leafing through a magazine while waiting in line and ran across a house with similar colors to ours. It ended up being an ad for Sherwin Williams paints and they gave the colors. I told hubby when it was time to paint.
