I am writing my packing list and not sure how many pants i need vs shorts, etc.

anyone in FL know the typical weather for
beginning of Octobers??
thanks!:teeth:

Well, I may not live in FL, but we've been to WDW in late-October and in mid-November, and during the days it was HOT! That is, 85+ degrees (and humid) during the day in October, still 83+ degrees in November. At night in October it was still warm, at least 80 degrees, but I'd pack 1 or 2 pairs of capris or pants just in case. :sunny:

Went last October, the end of the month. I wore shorts every day, it was in the 80's. A couple of evenings a wore a sweatshirt.

I've never packed nor needed pants in October and we go late October. 80s during the day and possibly as low as 70s at night. Still very warm. A light jacket or sweatshirt if it cools too much in the evening (highly unlikely), but you can always wear it on the plane ride home. I usually have a pair of capris, but other than that, always shorts and tanks/tees.

We're from the midwest and have learned to EXPECT ANYTHING as the weather goes in off-season Orlando.
We always pack winter and summer-wear.
In Dec/Jan/Feb we have even worn LONG THERMAL UNDERWEAR (after sundown)... we now pack it for any off-season trip.

Typical day:

Cool outside at 7am.
Wear shorts and T's.
Over that add a thin nylon wind-breaker
We put our "chilly-wear" and RAIN ponchos in a back-pack.
(Rain ponchos are REALLY cheap in hunting section of discount retailers.
You can buy BIG THICK ones to allow covering large jackets... more later.)

"Chilly-wear" is a nylon cotton-lined warm-up suit with zipper legs and a cotton-lined windbreaker.
We buy OVER-sized in these so they can easily be put on OVER other clothing.
After standing in the sometimes chilly "early-entry" lines we can usually take off the wind-breakers.
We always rent a locker at the park(s) and leave our "chilly-wear" in the locker 'til sun-down.
If it looks like rain (in Florida? Who'da Thunk?) take the Ponchos.

Much later, if its a warm night, we're just fine in the shorts.
If it turns windy/cool... we can visit the locker and choose which level of "chilly" OVER-WEAR to add to our clothing.

If it turns really COLD (windy 40's not unheard-of at certain times of the year) we can make a restroom trip and slide-on the long underwear... OR... we can even add the final outer-layer of the RAIN ponchos (with their HOODS)... OVER everything else.
That trick (and its a GOOD one) has allowed us to "comfortably" view Fantasmic! or IllumiNATIONS! when others (less-prepared) have been "frozen-out."

We went the last week in October last year and I wore shorts everyday. Even during MNSSHP. Two others in my family wore long pants a few times. I guess it depends on the person.

We wore shorts in October. It was still pretty darned HOT.

We have been 3 out of the last 4 Octobers. The last two were very warm, hot at times. We never needed jeans or sweatshirts. Four years ago, however, I did wear a sweatshirt to the MNSSHP and was very comfortable. It was comfortably warm during the days and slightly cooler in the evenings, almost perfect weather.

I've been there, the first week in November, a few times and we wore shorts and tshirts the whole time. The only days we had jeans on were the day we arrived and the day we left (we changed into jeans before we left the hotel to come home).

I always check the weather, no matter where we're going, the day before we leave. I then pack accordingly.

I use www.weather.com and www.accuweather.com

thanks - i have to remember to bring a sweater and capris for sure!
i gotta remember to check weather too:wave:

Also take into consideration that it's been a really really odd year for temperatures (at least here in Kentucky). Much cooler than usual...broke several records. It's to the point where I've been wearing a COAT when I leave in the morning to work and running the heater to boot. I'm going the frist week in October myself and I plan on packing one set of jeans/long sleeve/coat just in case.

Unless it's a very "odd" year temperature wise, shorts should be the order of the day in early October.
We go down on 10/1 and I'm not taking any "outer-wear" whatsoever. If worse comes to worse, I'll just buy a Disney sweatshirt.

I live here and would say that the weather in early Oct is usually still pretty hot although like others have said the weather has been odd everywhere this year. I think packing a pair of capris and maybe a long sleeve shirt would not be a bad idea especially since alot of restaurants are cool in the evenings, but all in all you should be fine with shorts and tees. I always say don't close that suitcase until you check the weather sites.......But in the 22 years I have been down here, Oct is probably one of the prettiest months especially later in the month.

When I went in late Sept thru early Oct. it was very hot.Shorts, tanks & water parks daily.
End of Oct & into early Nov, sublime - as perfect as it gets.... Shorts & tanks or tees.
I always bring a sweater or sweatshirt because I get cold inside with too much air.....

With luck you'll still be in shorts and tees but make sure you take at least a pair of long pants and a sweatshirt...just in case. We got caught once without them. It was beautiful one day then over night everything changed. It dropped from the 80's to the upper 50's. We were in the crowds at the parks buying sweatshirts and layering. We even bought gloves to wear:eek:
I'll never forget that trip and I'll never be unprepared again.

All you folks who "KNOW" what the weather is going to be are making me LOL.

Just compare the accuracy of the on-air Weather Experts Forecasts (and the "average" temperatures) to the record-breaking cool actual temperatures this year. Here in KC... normally dry and in the 90's-100's in July-August... this year rainy 60's-80's. (We LOVE it, but its just NOT the NORM.)

There have been several trips to WDW when my DW and I are the "only ones" (just a SLIGHT exaggeration) not frantically racing thru the park's stores looking for... affordable ;-)... outerwear (how about GLOVES?) for themselves and their shivering (crying) kid-lets, to try to salvage some fun on a day (or week) that has turned "unseasonably-cold". We have been strolling, wearing our Thinsulate earmuffs, past different families who constantly ask, "WHERE can WE buy some of THOSE?" (Sorry, we brought 'em from home.)

So go ahead and "travel light." It'll be FINE...
(Bongo drum-beats, Guitar licks)
Consider, if you will... a group of wayward travelers, on the road to a warm-weather holiday... content in the notion that they are escaping the chill of a traditional Autumn... content until... they enter the "Temperature Zone."
(Bongo drum-roll, then Out)
