I remember reading a thread a while ago about cleaning the jacuzzi.
What's needed to bring along for cleaning & cooking supplies? Anything you wouldnt normally think of?

Yes I did read the list in the members handbook. Anything not listed that you thought youd need?

We don't do a lot of cooking, and don't plan too either. I think everything for basic meal preparation is stocked in the unit

In our grocery stop, we do pick up some bleach to run thru the tub..

If you are staying at OKW don't bother bringing anything for cooking, you can not cook at OKW, the kitchen is just one giant movie prop.:p :p You can buy whatever you need if you don't think the tub or whatever is clean enough.

I haven't run into a problem where the unit needed additional cleaning.. always been top notch.

There is just no way mousekeeping can clean the pipes on the tub and it takes just a little extra Clorine to knock off whatever critters may be lurking in the dark.

We own another TS and have stayed in many units across the country. I have never felt the need to clean things when we first got there, howver, running bleach through the hot tub is not a bad idea. We do like to cook and if you plan to there is one thing that I usually forget and have to buy, foil. It is great to cover cookie sheets before use and to cover up bowls with leftovers. We also use it to wrap up sandwiches, etc., if we are taking a meal with us to a water park or even just to eat in the car. We make quick and easy meals like tacos and spaghetti and really enjoy it. Eating out is fun, but doing it every single meal for a week or more gets tiring and expensive IMO. We generally eat at least one and sometimes two meals a day in the condo. Have fun planning, we leave for BCV on Friday!!!

RE: cleaning the tub. Just run dishwasher detergent through it.
One cup, fill tub with hot water and let it rip.

Nope.. diswasher soap alone may not do it.. need something to break down the cell walls... and kill the nasties (bacteria AND viruses). Chlorine bleach is THE best disinfectant available and recommended by the CDC. Sure wouldn't like to have a cut on the foot or someplace and then colonize it with something from the hottub.. There are just tooo many scarey bugs out there today. Spend the buck for a gal of bleach... cheap insurance.

Housekeeping is supposed to run cleaner through the tubs, but I usually run it once just to be sure. Oxy clean works the same as bleach, and doesn't smell as bad!

I believe there is chlorine in the dishwasher detergent. We owned the same tub and the mfg. suggested dishwasher detergent to clean it.
Not sure how many "nasties" can manage to survive both the detergent and the scalding hot water, but, who knows. Personally, I am more concerned about getting athlete's foot from the shower.
