What chance of getting ressies for March in January?

We want to take my parents to WDW in March while the Braves are there. My Dad who is 73 loves baseball and we thought he would enjoy a couple of spring training games, especially seeing the Braves.
Since the tickets dont go on sale until Jan. we dont know what specific dates to make ressies for. What chance do we have of getting ressies on pts. for a DVC resort by waiting til Jan. to call? Anyone ever pulled this off?
Any advice would be great!

How picky are you on accommodations and location? If you don't care, you will find availability, usually at OKW. You will not find a standard view at BWV, though, so don't even think about that! If you are open to 2 studios vs. a two bedroom, or vice versa, you will be OK. But I would try to make ressies as soon as you know, because some weeks fill up faster than others.

Thanks for the quick reply. Though we would love for my folks to stay at VWL, our home resort, any of the DVC resorts would be fine. We would probably try for 2 studios since pts would be less.

Some of it will depend on the Spring Break thing. If you hit that time, it might get difficult.

March is usually pre-spring break. If you stay at OKW, your point cost will be less, and you will be closer to All Star Sports complex.

If you wouldn't have any problem cancelling, I'd go ahead and book something now (or soon). If it doesn't exactly fit the schedule, you can move things around but at least you're guaranteed that you have something. Chances are you will be okay booking in January but if you know roughly when you want to be there, why stress?

I'm a big Braves fan and have attended spring training every year for a week since 1999. The first games usually take place around the first week of March and continue until sometime the last week in March as opening day is typically around April 1 and the Braves usually play their last couple of exhibition games in Atlanta. You could probably reserve a unit for anythime during most of March and be fine because there usually are multiple games at Disney (3-4) every week. Cracker Jack stadium at the Wide-World of Sports Complex is a great venue to watch a game. The weather is usually beautiful (sometimes hot) and I definitely would pay the extra few dollars and get the lower reserved seats. An easy place to order tickets and view the schedule is at ticketmaster.com. In addition, I try to go the first ten days of March so I can beat a lot of the spring break crowd. GO BRAVES!!!

While you will miss Easter next year with that plan, much of the south is out in March and no April for Spring Break every year. I'd recommend you make reservations that cover a number of days that will work for you then you can cancel what you don't need. Make sure you order tickets early as some games sell out pretty fast and you don't want to take the chance.
