We have Cingular now and are not happy with the service. Somehow our phones never have reception when needed...so, whats the best to change to? We've narrowed it down to 2 (unless a lot of people convince us otherwise) to either Verizon or sprint/nextel. Any opinions? Its just me and DH that need phones and we don't use them all too often. I want to be able to text, but no camera phone.

DFi and I are on the family plan with Sprint. I pay $70 per month for 800 minutes for us to share, unlimited nites/weekends, typical deal. We also have the Sprint Vision data plan because DFi has a Treo - which runs us $20 more per month. We like them so far. We've had Cingular, AT&T, and Verizon in the past...Sprint has the best service in WDW :rolleyes1

We just switched from Cingular to Verizon over Thanksgiving. We added DD and honestly, most of her friends are on the V so free calling between them was a huge incentive. Also, she had been on a retreat the weekend before, tried calling us on the Cingular..no service, but borrowed a friends Verizon and got right thru. I had a thread going and had many great responses to Verizon from the Dis folks...so far we are happy with it. I do miss my Samsung phone tho...we now have LG which is fine, just miss my old one. We did get DD a Samsung (sshhhhhh it's from Santa!) one tho...there was a special for $50 and the thing is loaded...wish I had gotten one! Good luck, it is a pain shopping around for a new network, but I feel your Cingular pain!

T-Mobil. I love 'em! Never had a dropped call and in 2 years I can only remember one time that I didn't get a signal (I walked about 10 yards and found one!).

I used to have Cingular (I was a customer of theirs when they were still Cellular One) before they bought AT&T, and while I never had a problem per sey, they didn't exactly wow me either.

I have sprint with 2000 minutes shared with 3 phones and the vision pack for my treo and free nights and weekends after 7 instead of 9 on 2 of my phones. I think we pay about 130 a month for all that. Good deal for us IMHO.

I just got the latest Consumer Reports magazine. They rated Verizon's receptions as the best. I do believe Nextel got the worst, with everyone else in between. I have Cingular. It's not great, especially at work, but a lot of my Verizon co-workers also have a problem. I just think it depends where you are at the time with whatever service. I've seen it go both ways (sometimes Verizon works better, other time Cingular). My DH claims his Nextel works everywhere, but I've had problems hearing him.

I have Cingular. Well actually still labled as AT&T sometimes. Around here it is one of the best. I have great reception. I've only dropped a few calls but I was going in and out of blacked out areas. I have even gotten reception in the tunnel of Penn Station! My plan is free nationwide, free night and weekends, free calls to other Cingular users, and something like 500 minutes between 4 phones. We never go over in minutes and we are supposed to have a discounted upgrade of phones every year but I haven't gotten that since Cingular bought out AT&T. That part actually annoys me.

I don't know about others, but here Nextel is the worst! Their reception is close to non-existant and their customer service is extremely lacking. And every day I see a new Nextel store open up. I don't get it.

Pretty happy w/T-Mobile. $39.99 for 1500 minutes (anytime)

DH and I have Cricket.

We each pay about $33 a month - and that gets each of us unlimited incoming calls, unlimited local calls, unlimited text messages, caller id, call waiting, voice mail and 1000 minutes of long distance a month. We have amazing reception.

The only draw back is that it doesn't work out of our service area. That's not a big deal since we hardly travel.

For the times we travel, I bought a Cingular pay as you go phone, which I pay $20 every 3 months for.

:goodvibes
