What can't you find at the World?

My husband and I were recently talking about shipping a package to Disney World prior to our vacation. And we were thinking, what do we really need to send from home that necessitates a shipped package? I would send diapers, wipes, glow sticks, and any other bulky items that I don't plan on coming home with. Aside from that, the only thing we could think of that we would want to buy but wouldn't find is "Fluff". My daughter loves her peanut butter and fluff sandwiches, but we couldn't find fluff anywhere! I didn't think it was a New England thing, but maybe it is.

So, what personal item have you shopped for in Orlando that you weren't able to find?

We used to bring Cheerios because the cereals in Disney were only Kelloggs.

When my kids were babies backup packages of formula were impossible to find.

If you have a car I would just buy the diapers and wipes when you get there. That's what we do. At the parks and disney hotels they sell huggies (the cheaper kind). We like pampers cruisers.
Is fluff like marshmallow cream? I can't believe they wouldn't have that at super Walmart?

Oh, they do not sell bubble gum but you can get it at the airport. Juice boxes were hard to find and cheese crackers like cheeze-its.

Children's medicine. My DD broke out in hives and there was not a bottle of children's benedryl anywhere. Also I had to walk over to the Hess gas station from DTD to find children's chewable tylenol since they were fresh out everywhere else .

Mt. Dew! Or any pepsi products! It's coke products only at WDW.
Another thing I always bring is fruit cups/apple sauce cups. Fruit is available, but it's expensive and not always convenient at the parks in particular.

I don't know much about what you can't find, but I do have a suggestion that worked well for us. We packed all the things we knew we would use, like diapers and snacks, and then we used that suitcase to get our souvenirs home. It worked well for us!

I agree on the fruit cups. Our resort, POFQ, had the fresh fruit, but it was not cheap. (The resort was amazing though!!) I brought the fruit cups in the metal cups so there was less chance they would leak in my suitcase (we flew). I put the fruit cups in a long, low "disposable" plastic container, the Ziploc kind to further prevent a mess should there be a leak. We also took two 8 packs of Junior Juice boxes. They are a little smaller than the regular juice boxes, by almost half so they took up less room. We used up all the fruit cups and juice boxes. However, I took cheese crackers, granola bars, small cereal boxes and rice krispy squares, but regret that move. More than half did not get consumed and I ended up throwing some out to save on space going home.

The one thing I could not find on the WDW property anywhere was cough drops, specifically Halls. I had taken some with me, but needed more and they had nothing. I had to buy a mint candy and make due. I finally found the Halls in the airport on the way home.

Decongestants. One of my sons and I both had a cold on our last trip. I tried finding cold meds with a decongestant on site but couldn't. That whole decongestants must be behind the pharmacy counter now thing. I guess there was concern that I would start up a meth lab at the Contemporary somehow.

You just made me actually LOL here because this was my very interesting pharmacy experience this week (off topic, but worth mentioning for the sheer ridiculousness of it) I have had the worst cold I've had in years. I hate taking medicine of any kind, I finally gave in and went to the drug store to buy some sudafed. I discovered that it's now a little piece of paper that I take to the pharmacy where they get it for me, ok, no big deal. I then had to show 2 (not 1, but 2) forms of id, they wrote my name in a book and how much I bought (1 box!) and finally gave me my cold medicine. 3 hours later my mom calls me from work, can I go pick up my grampa's pain meds from the pharmacy, she's going to get out late and he really need them. He has cancer, so it kind of falls to us to take care of him. So I head back out to the pharmacy, where I proceed to pick up prescriptions for 3 high level narcotics. They never even asked me to verify any of his information. No id, nothing. Since they were under insurance they were fully paid for and I just had to ask for them by his name. Now, I understand what's going on, but hello? Does anyone else see how ridiculous this is?

I guess this is what happens when good intentions get in the hands of Bureaucrats... everyone stops thinking and they sign a law.

You could probably wait until you get back from your trip but.....WDW does not sell pregnancy tests! By the way it was positive! Tory is 3 years old now and has been to WDW 7 times - 2 x in utero!

If you have a car, there's a Super Wal Mart not far from WDW. Wal Mart has Fluff. Nice to see another Fluffernutter eater! LoL My kids love them. I had them when I was litle. I think it's a Northern thing (I grew up in PA). None of the kids I know down here in VA ever heard of Fluffer Nutter sandwich, none of my nieces or nephews on my DH's side or any of the kids I have watched or DD's friends. So every time they come here they always ask for one!

Soy milk.

The stuff is NASTY, but my little one can't tolerate regular milk, so she has to drink soy. We were able to find it at most sit down restaurants and even in our food court at POFQ. But it wasn't always available, and towards the end of our trip, we had to give her regular milk. (And we paid for it a few days later with a very very bad diaper rash. )

Thanks for the tip for Fluff at WalMart! We shopped there, but I don't think we even looked for fluff. We were looking at the supermarkets for it, and couldn't find it. I tried the little shop at the hotel as well, but nothing. Yes, my daughter loves her fluffernutters! Probably would eat them 3 times a day if she had her choice. She also likes peanut butter for a snack - she'll eat the little snack cups you get at the food courts, and when we could find them, the Skippy tubes of peanut butter (can't find them anymore )

Soy milk? That's too bad you can't find that. I would think that is becoming more of a common item...

Oh, and don't get me started on the decongestants!!! I am so annoyed that the law-abiding citizen is being put out by this law! I have 4 kids, and when one gets a runny nose, they all do, and decongestant isn't just a one day experience. So when I go to the drugstore, I stock up, the right brands for the right age, and only the right med (wouldn't want to give cough + decongestant or fever + decongestant if only decongestant is needed). I never can find what I need anymore! OK... that's my rave for today.. Thanks for your tips and experiences!

Any full-sized supermarket will have marshmallow creme -- but if you ask a clerk for "Fluff" you'll get a blank look in most of the South, because that's not the name that Southerners use for it. It will normally be shelved in the aisle with the baking ingredients.

Absolutely carry your own OTC medicines; whatever you are likely to need. I ditch the boxes and just carry the foil bubble cards, but do keep the dosage info from the box if you don't have it memorized.

If you are a serious fan of Pepsi products or Dr. Pepper you would need to bring it in or buy it at the Hess stations, the only soft drinks WDW sells are Coke products. Coffee purists will also bring their own supply; WDW only sells Nestle-brand coffee, except for at Kona Cafe and at the S/D hotels.
