what can you tell me about the embossing stuff for the sizzix?

Yes, you can use the simple impressions in the sidekick but you must purchase special Sidekick folders. These come 5 in pack for around $4.00.

and do you get the folders at acmoore or michaels? or do you have to get them online? i bought some of them (embossing thinges) this weekend! i just thought i could put them in my sidekick! stupid me!!!

are the impressions that they make "good" or is it really light? I wanted to get some but I wasn't sure (since I haven't seen it demoed) how they impression turned out.

OK - I just checked this out. I have a couple that I hadn't used yet. I have to admit that I was confused about the need for the special folder as Simple Impressions are sold in a folder.

So here's what I found out:
- I read through all the instructions & it says all you need to use the Simple Impressions with the Sizzix is the converter. (the big magnetic thing you use for Sizzlets) Although it says you may need a shim.
- The brass stencil is stuck to one side of a plastic folder (like a mini file folder) and there is a "counter stencil" on the other side. The counter piece fits into the hole in the stencil & is what makes the indentation on the paper.
- I couldn't believe it was going to work w/o the shim because when I pulled the handle down it felt like there was no resistance at all. The directions say to pull the handle 2ce.
- It worked exactly as they said!!

The impression was beautiful! Definitely not a "light" impression tubachick! I'm so glad you asked this question! Now I can't wait to use what I have - I may even have to go buy a couple more!

rofl julianne, the only reason I now own one is because y'all were posting all those great deals at creative express last month. I figured for 12.50 I could get a side kick. I don't own any sizzlets (I'm such a qk snob). So I finally found someplace on line that had the converter.... maggie

just called sizzix and the lady told me that I needed to buy the "replacement folder" (sold in packs of 5 for 4.99 )

You can get the pack of sidekick folder for $3.86 at Creative Xpress if you can't find them in a store near you (I couldn't). There is also still a 40% off coupon there so if you are picking up other things, you might want to consider adding these on.
