Hi,

I am writing this from my room at POR right now. We are checking out today, always a sad day. We did not have any negative experiances. We are in AB building 38 and it is a five minute walk to the main buliding which houses the food court, table service, lounge, gift shop and checkin/guest services. We truely had a great experaince here.

I stayed at POR last June and thought it was a beautiful resort. We stayed in AB but were quite a hike from the main buildings. Not a big deal to us as we enjoyed the walk. I'd stay there again in a minute. No complaints about the room either. Plenty big enough for two adults and two kids.

The only drawback I noticed was that AB does not have guest elevators and I had to lug all the luggage (including a double stroller) up the stairs. Quite a task since at the time DD was a non-walker. Next time I'd either use bell services, ask for a ground floor, or ask to stay in mansions.

Have a great stay and enjoy your trip.

Stephanie

We stayed there in October. I had asked for alligator bayou but got a mansion room. We loved it. Very close to the foodcourt and bus stops.
The boat to DTD was fun. We planned on taking a horse drawn carriage ride but ran out of time. I would definately stay there again.

We were just there in June, Misty.

Here's what you'll love:

Awesome southern Mississippi theming. Log frame headboards and mirror frames in your room along with double sinks. The thick greenery and small bridges over little waterways everywhere. The POR pool is a blast and so is the POFQ pool and you can use both! The boat ride to and from Downtown Disney is very unique. Very relaxing at the end of the night to take the boat back to the resort. Very large quiet pools. The "Fishin' Hole" is a really fun thing for kids, the CM working there was very helpful in making sure everyone caught a fish. $4 for a half hour's use of their bamboo pole, line, bobber, hook and a bunch of worms. A half hour is all you'll need for kids to have a blast! We were in Alligator Bayou and the walk to the bus stop was quick and close. The bus service was awesome, always under 5 minutes. The gift shop is large with lots of souveniers. The restaurants provide whatever kind of food and service you would like, very typical of all the resorts. Be sure to find the Hidden Mickey on the shoe of the Indian statue!

You'll love it at POR unless your only idea of a resort stay is a generic Hilton.

POR is our favorite resort - I can't think of one bad thing to say about it. I know people have complained about the distance to the food court - that can be remedied be requesting a room that is close. Personally I like the buildings that are far away, I love to take in the beautiful scenery during an early morning walk.

We stayed in a water view room in the Alligator Bayou section last April. What a fantastic resort! We would certainly encourage anyone to stay there. We had stayed at POFQ the previous year and enjoyed POR much more (even though they are considered the "same" resort). The grounds are lushly landscaped and make for a wonderful evening stroll. Even though the resort was just about full when we stayed the resort was always quiet and never, ever felt crowded. This goes for the food court as well. The boat to DTD was wonderful! The pool was fantastic as well.

We are now DVC members at SSR but have as our goal to stay at all of the Disney Resorts. So far we have stayed at AKL, POFQ, and POR, and, in my opinion, you really can't go wrong at POR!

It is an absolutely gorgeous resort. As someone else said, even if you are a little further away from the food court, it is such a beautiful walk with so much to look at. We would definitely stay there again!

We have stayed there twice and twice at the French Quarter. Both were wonderful. My now 14 yr old daughter loved the pools and the boat rides to DTD. We also enjoyed the early morning walks along the water. This is one of my favorite resorts.

My family of 5, Me, DH, DSS13, DS8, DS5, stayed in AB in October for nine days. We loved it. The room was just big enough for our group. We were in building 34 which was right down the path from the west depot. The walk to the main buildings took about 10 minutes. I actually enjoyed getting up early in the am and walking down to get my morning coffee ALONE. It was the only alone time I had all day. I also got up one morning and walked to the POFQ to get the family beignets. The walk along the river was gorgeous.

My sister and her family stayed in the mansion buildings, and we all decided that the AB was nicer. Better theming and nicer quiet pools.

The kids all loved the big pool. The food court is convenient and not too spendy.

The staff was friendly and helpful. I would definately stay there again.

We have stayed at this resort twice and it has been thoroughly lovely both times. Our last stay at POR was over Spring Break and it was like we were there alone (except the food court could get crowded at times). We enjoyed being able to use both pools (POR and POFQ...legal pool hopping gotta love that). The resort was beautiful and peaceful as a nice contrast to the hustle and bustle of the parks. The boat to DTD is another perk. Breakfasts at Boatwrights, the TS in the resort and Bob Jackson the all ages piano man in the lounge are not to miss as well.

This is a beautiful resort...we were in the Bayou section in Nov. and just loved it! It was just my husband and I for our anniversary, and so we didn't mind the long-ish walk form the "hub" to our room (we were in the furtherest building from the main area)...it was quiet, peaceful, very "resort-ish"...the theming is amazing, right down to the bubbling swamp! have a wonderful time!! I'm jealous!!
