What can you tell me about Midwest Airlines?

I was looking at flights on priceline and this is the airline that showed up with the cheapest rates....which can sometimes not be a good thing. I had never heard of them, or if I had not to great extent. I have used the name your own price before and had some really great deals come from it but I was a little hesitant since they are listed as the cheapest. So any info would be great! Thank you!

It's been many years since I've used them, but at that time, they were the cadillac of airlines for the Midwest states. I flew from Milwaukee to Newark. Everyone was considered first-class passengers and we had steak and lobster for dinner and champayne/wine included. Now I'm sure most of that stuff isn't free now but it was great at the time. They've been around a long time and have had a good reputation.

I flew Midwest Airlines a few years ago. I had never heard of them before that trip as well. Our party of 7 flew from Washington Reagan (DCA) to Los Angeles (LAX). We LOVED the service on this airline. Some long haul flights are considered "signature service". All of the seats are like sitting in first class or business class. Two by Two and very spacious. They had foot rests and head/neck rests and were leather. The best part was the chocolate chip cookies! Yes, after the flight attendants do their normal beverage/snack service they come back around and give everyone two freshly baked (or at least freshly warmed) chocolate chip cookies. The smell fills the cabin and it's wonderful. I enjoyed my flight and would fly them again if given a good rate.

Midwest is now run by Frontier
No more 2 by 2 seating
Service has gone way down but they still served the cookies on my last flight with them
You can no longer upgrade to business class even for a fee
I always fly out of Milwaukee and Midwest USED to be my favorite airline.
Now I use Ait Tran.
Sothwest also now flys out of Milwaukee but I have not tried them yet but plan to in the future.

A zillion years ago, I flew Midwest and it was wonderful. I flew it last week and comically a passenger said, "this isn't the Midwest I remember." I don't have much to compare it to, but it was fine. We flew Northwest/Delta on the return flight and the Midwest flight had better service overall but there was no difference in seating/room. We had a bad experience with Delta and would be hard pressed to fly with them again.

I don't think you'll be disappointed with the airline. If it's a good price I'd fly with them.

Ditto.

As of last year Midwest became a subsidiary of Republic Airways which also owns Frontier. They fired most employees, got rid of most of their big jets and fly mainly smaller jets now. They almost went bankrupt and at one point cut their flights by 40%. The current Midwest is a shell of its former self. The only thing they have retained from the old Midwest is that they still serve chocolate chip cookies. It's kind of sad now especially for those of us who used to fly them regularly and got the lobster/champagne and wide leather seats. It's pretty much a no-frills airline now.
