Sorry this is a basic question, but if I go to a table service restaurant, do I just get an entree and dessert? Or do I also get to pick a salad? drink? Thanks
It depends. If you are on the standard dp, you get an entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage. There is also the deluxe dining plan, which includes an appetizer, entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage. With the dxdp, if a salad is listed as an appetizer, yes you can get it. Hope this helps!
You should check out the menus & crunch some numbers. We find it sooo much less stressful to NOT be on the DDP. It's always easier (& has always been less expensive for us) to order what we want from the menu rather than what the dining plan dictates.

At any restaurant the entree comes with everything that is listed in the description of the entree. In most cases there are sides included, but there are some entrees that do not include any sides (e.g. if you look at The Boathouse's menu there are some steaks that come only with a "choice of sauce," but no sides. The sides are listed in a separate section of the menu and have price points so you would have to pay out of pocket if you choose one of them.
Yes some restaurants will offer you a dessert swap and I plan to try it out next week when I am there. We will be eating at some fixed places (Ohana and Fantasmic) but am going to see about swapping at Tonys and Teppan Edo so I'll report what we find out

I got a huge salad at the Wave instead of dessert and a 3 sampler beet salad at BOG dinner instead of dessert. Enjoyed both. Got salad instead of dessert at Mama Melrose also.

Sometimes the dining plan really works out for us, and is cheaper. Sometimes it isn't. It really depends on the length of our visit, the family members traveling with us and our restaurant plans.
