What can you do with an Ipod Touch for free? What applications can be loaded onto it for free?
I own a MP3 Player, and it's not even an Ipod. I'm considering getting an Ipod Touch.
Can you use the internet?
Can you use instant messenger?
How about texting or tweeting?
What are some of your favorite Aps?:thumbsup2

I've had my Ipod touch 32gb for a couple of years now and it's a mini computer with thousands of apps available, many of them free.I use my Ipod touch more than my desktop or laptop,it has wifi so I can use the Internet at home or anywhere else wifi is available.Flash player is not available so you won't get some videos to play, but it does have YouTube and some other video sites.I have mine topped off with Apps,it gives you 11 pages of apps for a total of 176,you can download more but they just don't show until you delete another one.I also download some music, videos and podcasts on it, basically it has just about everything you could want.I have an HTC surround for my phone which also has wifi and many apps available and it's good but just nowhere as user friendly or as good as the Ipod touch.

Also free kindle app and free kindle books! (typing this on mine)

There is an app called TextFree and that allows you to text on the touch as long as you are somewhere with Wifi. You can also use FaceTime on the touch with WiFi which is pretty cool.

There are tons of free apps out there. Just go to the iTunes website and search free apps to see the selection!

Have you been able to receive texts back with TextFree? I can send texts fine with it, but I never get texts back even though people have texted me back. I even got rid of TextFree and got it again, and still no texts received ever.

I use it all the time and get text back! :goodvibes I also use my itouch more than my computer... its much easier to sit on the couch and surf than sit on the computer because as soon as I do that the kids need something. :confused3
I dont tweet but dh does he uses HootSuite which is free. Angry birds is so much fun and so addicting!

:goodvibes Ive had my 32gb previous generation without the camera for a few years and used it for texting (free), playing free games (so many avail for FREE), Reading books (free) via Kindle and Nook apps, watching movies (free if you own the digital copies that come with many DvDs), listening to Pandora, my own Mp3s, Oh and I LOVE podcasts (FREE)!! Ive purchased single episodes of shows Ive missed for $1.99 that I just cant wait to see the rerun usually its been a season finale. I love listening to audiobooks via audible.com not free but very awesome =) I love the portability of it. I have wi-fi at home theres also so many places with free wi-fi. I did get an android phone in Feb and my husband has since took over my ipod but I do not like my phone for music I kinda want my ipod back =)

Thanks for all the responses! Sounds like an Ipod Touch is the way to go. Now is there one generation that is better than another, or are they all about the same? I don't really care about the camera, but I would like to be able to download all those free apps you all were talking about!:lovestruc

I have a 2nd gen, a 3rd gen and a 4th gen. lol I like the 3rd gen the best... the 2nd gen was good but then they updated their software to where I couldn't update mine anymore.. it was just too old :( the 3rd is a little bigger than the 4th a little heavier (I'm talking oz not pounds) and its MUCH sturdier. The 4th is VERY VERY thin and light but because its so thin and light it hasn't held up as well as my 3rd gen. Your also going to need to think about how big you want the memory.. our dd filled the 4th gen 8g in less than 6 months... my 3rd gen is a 64g and its still not filled a year later.
