What can we expect for Columbus Day?

Wondering what the crowds and campground will be like the week before and after Columbus Day. We will arrive on the 8th and are leaving on the 18th. So we will be there before and after the holiday. Any thoughts on when the crowds arrive and depart for this long weekend. Or will it be busy the entire time. Any thoughts would be appreciated! I am trying to make a tentative schedule of parks and "rest" days!! Thanks

It tends to be on the "busy" lite side. With more and more schools having fall breaks these days, it usually coincides with the Columbus Day Holiday.

I was there during Columbus Day/Fall Break a couple of years ago and found the campground full on the weekends and about 60% during the week.

I agree with Carol, Columbus Day is a Yankee Holiday. We hardly hear anything about it in Florida. I don't know of any local school districts that have a day off for Columbus Day.

I don't think this holiday has very much impact on the Fort.

I thought everyone got Columbus Day as a 3 day weekend! I figured there might be a lot of locals coming in for that time! Thanks for the imput!
