We are considering a 2 night stay in Orlando after a cruise and was wondering what we could do in a deluxe resort without admission tickets or swimming? (plan to go in Jan and can't plan to be able to swim, it would only be a hopeful bonus)

Not much other than go to explore the resort or go to Downtown Disney.

Let's see.... There's shopping/dining at DTD, mini-golf at Fantasia or Winter/Summerland, checking out all the other resorts, spend an evening at The River Roost Lounge at POR, hang out on the Boardwalk -- Jelly Rolls is great fun, watch the fireworks from the beach at the Poly, rent a surrey bike, horseback riding or just walking the trails at Fort Wilderness, campfire/movie at Fort Wilderness...

You can ride the monorail....

go over to boardwalk at night..they have performers and if you walk towards the bridge you can see some of illuminations at 9pm.

We love touring the resorts, especially the Contemporary. My children love the arcade, I like to check out the shops.:)

You will be staying in a Deluxe WDW resort so then the whole world is right there for you to explore. Appreciate all that your resort has to offer -- there is usually so much that doesn't get noticed! Check out the other resorts (free parking) to gain a better idea of where you'll want to stay next time (of course there will be a next time!!). So much to do, see, experience without going to the parks.

Check the WDW Resort website for recreation ideas.

Ah, eating! :rotfl:

Free movies at Fort Wilderness (maybe BC too).

Cruise on Disney transporation (boats, monorail)

Golf on a Disney course (they pay for the cab ride)

Cirque

Pleasure Island and Downtown Disney (clubs, restaurants, shopping)

Rent watersports equipment and have blast

Outlet shopping in Orlando

sleep, sleep, sleep before reentering the real world

Hot tubs should still be a possibility...

Work out in the health club (not sure if any have saunas)

Spa treatments

Did I mention eating?

There are a lot of options...downtown disney, movies, fireworks can be seen from all over, shopping, dining, & all your resort activities. You should be able to keep from being bored.

Look at it as: the whole world is your oyster, but you know you won't find a pearl. Don't forget tea at GF and maybe even a photo shoot there too.

Sleep late, shop, have a spa treatment, and you could throw in a carriage ride too.

My wife and I are actually considering doing the same thing. We plan on enjoying the different resort restaurants, catching a movie at DTD and taking care of her shopping fix at the outlets. One thing we always talk about doing, but never get a chance is getting in some golf (mini-golf for her and regular golf for me). We figured this type of trip will give us an opportunity to do all the things we say we would do when we visit the world, but never get a chance because we are trying to get every bit of value out of our tickets.

You could see if there is a Pirate & Pricess party at MK on either night you will be there (I think they usually have this party in January, but not sure how early it starts). The price is only about $40 per person, and you can enter the park as early as 4pm, and the party officially starts at 7pm

We went on a quick trip last October, and did not buy admission ticket, but just purchased the party ticket (halloween). It was wonderful !! We were able to hit all the attractions with low crowds.

We also did a character breakfast, and visited other resorts via disney transportation and had a great time at downtown disney.

It was probably the most relaxing disney trip I have done, and we were only there three nights!

Thanks for all the great ideas. We have been to the world yearly for the last 5 years and feel we have done a lot in the parks. We really will only have Thursday afternoon and all day Friday. We have a morning flight out on Sat. We are now considering 2 value rooms and seriously hoping for a P&PP one of those 2 nights. Our decison would be made for us. Mini golf or shop and then the party. Keeping fingers and toes crossed!

Yay! (fingers and toes crossed for you!). I really do hope they have the party. All the special event parties (princess/christmas/halloween) have such cool fireworks and parade too.
Have fun!
