for Christmas? She lives about an hour away at college during the year - any suggestions?

Well it depends on what kindof things she likes, but yeah, I'd say that an iPod would be pretty safe no matter what.

yup, I'd suggest an ipod too! They're very small and can hold a TON of music. A lot of people around campus wear them between classes and just when they're walking around (myself included). :cool1:

Does she like Disney? Or would yall be going there soon? Maybe some Disney dollars or something. :earsboy:

Last year my parents got me a gift card for the campus bookstore...that came in VERY handy! I used it mainly for books and a tshirt, I think. But it kept extra money in my pocket so I could spend it on other things...like more books.

If you don't know specific things she'd like, maybe try gift cards. I've done this for friends in the past...get a wallet and put gift cards in the credit card slots. It's a fun surprise, especially when they're expecting just the wallet and then see that there's a whole lot more inside!

good luck on your gift-getting venture! hope this helped!

Is she a big Disney fan? What is she interested in? Any movies coming out that she wants? Gift certificates to clothing stores? Face scrubs and foot scrubs and stuff? I was just trying to think of the generic girly types of gifts...too bad we college people don't write to Santa anymore, right?

I managed to find out that I'm getting a Canon Powershot Digital Camera, its smaller than my hand...and I have little hands. If she likes to take pics, this might be a good idea, its cheaper than developing all those photos in the long run, and she can send you some from school too. I dunno, I'm really excited about getting mine, just a suggestion.

natty, I love your idea about the wallet. Very creative!

I would say you could get her clothes in her favorite colors, or items that she can use for her dorm room.

Things that are practical but are still fun. ipod and digital cameras were my first two thoughts as well. If money is tight, then maybe nice decorations for her room, like nice curtains or a new rug for the floor or something. Something not tacky and not from walmart! Because that is probably what she would have to get herself, money is always so tight during school. Gas cards for your car are always appreciated, if she has a car on campus. I'm not sure what she likes, but sometimes my parents will get me tickets to shows I want to go to. Like if i mention a band is playing around me, they'll get me two tickets for me and a friend. But I like bands that don't cost a lot to see, if your daughter likes Dave Matthews or something 2 tickets would set you back a lot. Just some ideas, hope they're helpful!

money for ordering out for pizza when the cafeteria is serving something she doesn't like.

Panera gift card or another card for a local restaurant. We put money on our DD food card at college, so she can sometimes pay for food when on a date with DBF, neither one of them have much money, but work hard contributing to college tuition.

New jeans, shirts
