What can I expect??

Well, we are (im)patiently waiting for our OKW resale closing. We purchased from a couple in England and apparently the courier service they used has no tracking of the package. We might have to sign papers all over again if they don't turn up soon. But I suppose it's worth the wait!

Quick question for you folks. We will be staying at OKW this June (trip has been planned for quite a while through Dreams Unlimited before we even bought our resale - so we won't be using any points for this trip). Obviously we will have closed by then and be DVC members. Will we still be welcomed home and get DVC perks (ie, pool hopping, free videos) even though this trip wasn't booked as a DVC trip?

Well everyone on this board will most certaily say "Welcome Home" and let me be the first. As for the other answers, I'll leave that to others who are more in the know.

Good question! I am not sure, since your reservation will not say "DVC member", I would doubt you get the perks. When we make reservations with points we do, but cash ressies, we don't. You might see if you can change to a point ressie. If there is availability after you close and within the cancelation window, I might try to do that. OOPS! Forgot to say, WELCOME HOME!

Most of the DVC perks are for DVC members and their guests when staying on points. Even though you will be a DVC member- you will not have "DVC Member" marked on your room ID- which is the identification needed for most perks.
You can try to use your DVC Membership card- if you have received it by then- for some of the other discounts. Good Luck!

Before I forget...Welcome Home!!!

You may not get to pool hop, but you will get free daily maid service. Your room ID will not say "member". That is the critical thing for most benefits. You should be able to get most of the discounts simply with your membership card.....if you have it by then.

What about after getting your points, checking to see if you could get a ressie using your points, then cancel the other reservation? First time would be nice to go on points. Obviously a lot more would go into this decision, but it may be worth looking into.
