I am not so sure I want the typical floral at my ceremony. What are some other decor options that could replace it? Preferably DIY options?

I am having a creative shut down and simply cannot think of ANYTHING! Has anyone done a wedding with something besides floral?

Thanks in advance!!

Candles are always nice. Fruit and other food items are really big right now. Board games are fun. Disney books would be cute.

I dont think I can have candles! The books asound really cute!!!

I am thinking ribbons, crystals, gems, and lights (not tacky christmas lights but something along those lines) so far.

I need to find pictures for inspiration.

Fruit though! Hmm that could be really pretty!!

Check out page 7 of my PJ. One of my friends DIYed her centerpieces (using no floral) and they turned out super cute!
:thumbsup2

Can I ask where you are planning on having your ceremony? A lot of the locations in Disney don't even need any decor at all because they are so beautiful.

When I first started planning my wedding, I thought about using candy as centerpieces, but it depends on your theme. Another disbride from a few years ago did that, and it looked great. I have also seen other brides on here use shells and fruit (not together), both which looked really good.

A lot of brides have used glowing centerpieces at dessert parties with LED lights. There is a picture in this link: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2325580

I had LED lanterns with vines at my reception. It is really hard to see them in this picture but it might give you an idea:

the only floral we had was my and my MOH bouquets and various boutonnieres and corsages. the only thing we added to the WP was the streamer cannon (YAY!!!). our centerpieces were mad hatter inspired and lovely!

whats your theme?

We're getting married at sea breeze, and we're only doing personal floral (and probably rose petals for a staged exit). Most of the ceremony locations simply don't need decorations!

If you don't want personal floral, I love the way parasols look instead of bouquets. I wish I could do that, but I'm getting married in January!

I like the thought of usuing coral! So shells could really go along those lines. I amd really liking LED lights so I think those will be incorporated. Thanks for the photos! That helps :)

We are caught between either doing Sleeping Beauty or an UP Theme. We are probably going to do Sleeping Beauty and have a "Storybook" wedding.

We have not decided yet. In fact I think I will do my ceremony offsite. So I would rather just cut floral out of my budget (some sites we are looking at have vendor fees). The reception is a different story all together and will be included with the Disney location.

Mmm paraols <3

If you do a Sleeping Beauty theme I think it would be cute to use storybooks (as a PP said), and among the books you could include items from the movie. Like you could have a Malficent table, an A&P table, a fairies table, etc. One Disneyland bride also had a SB theme and she used her own SB collectibles to decorate the tables along with pink and blue LED lights.

I loved Hope's wedding that was beautiful and her centerpieces were great idea! I think the reception we have some good ideas for that and a lot of things (like floral) are included with DCA.
I was just more concerned about the ceremony as if we do it on OC grounds like we want it costs to bring outside vendors so we don’t want to hire a florist. I am trying to figure out how I can decorate the altar, aisle, chairs, etc. Candle and petals are a no no :( I am so bummed!

If you are having your ceremony at either of the spots listed above I really don't think you would need to decorate! :goodvibes Outdoor venues are generally beautiful on their own! One idea is to use shepards hooks and pomanders to line the aisle. You could easily make your own pomanders using fake floral and styrofoam from Joanns or Michaels.
