What camera do you have? Do you love it?

I like my Canon PowerShot A710 IS. I've had it for a few years and I think it takes great pictures. I bought this one as it takes AA batteries or rechargable ones. I bought a charger and one pack (4 AA) batteries and it has worked well.

My mom and dad, and my sister also have Canon PowerShot cameras. Both are older models than mine. They have been happy with their cameras. My sister did get a SLR camera more recently, but her Canon is also the oldest model out of the three in our family and she really likes taking pictures.

I didn't mention the memory cards, I have about 17G. 4 G is the most on one card though. I bought that many as I wanted to film the shows in DL and WDW. I found the video clips really good for a camera. You can even zoom in while filming. A friend I was talking to today said her camera can't zoom while filming.

I just bought a camcorder as the only thing I felt it wasn't great at was filming Fantamic. It might just be that I wasn't close enough. The camera has a 6X optical which was high when I bought it. I just couldn't zoom in close enough to get a good view of Mickey. I wasn't sitting in the back of the theatre, but near the middle of the reserved section.

Another Canon PowerShot A720 here that I also enjoy. I about a dozen rechargable batteries and 4 memory cards. I use it quite often between work and family.

Whatever you decide, do not buy your camera from Best Buy! To make a VERY long story short we bought ours there. Before we got it, someone had dropped it and then returned it. The camera has been in their shop 5 times and it still does not work right. Best Buy will do nothing to help us! I will never shop there again!

Another vote for the Canon powershot digital elph. I have the SD880IS model (last year's model I think) and I absolutely love it! Photography is a hobby of my husband's and he has an amazing Canon SLR but it is just way too big to be practical for me (and trying to capture and keep up with two young children) so he got the powershot for me. It is super easy to use and even my husband has been impressed with the quality of the pictures it takes. I would highly recommend it! :thumbsup2

I have a Nikon, with 7 or 8 megapixal. It takes great shots and is small and compact. It has a slot for a memory card (a must). Also, get one with a Lithium battery. Otherwise, you will have to carry disposable batteries with you.

what kind of picture quality are you looking for? I have high standards for pictures (being a photographer, it comes with the job ;0) but for any of my friends that are looking for a great camera that will take professional quality but isn't quite as bulky or expensive I always recommend the Canon Rebel. Its what I started my business with waaaay back in the day, and is a great middle ground for people that want a faster/better quality pictures to a small pocket point and shoot, but is cheaper and smaller than a professional camera!

I think anything over 7 megapixels is fine these days. I think you have to decide whether you want a cheapish 'point and shoot' or a more cumbersome SLR where you could spend thousands of dollars - the sky is the limit.

Thanks for the tips. DH i.e. "Santa" has already to promised to deliver a new camera & handycam this christmas in anticipation for our trip & everyday use of course.:surfweb:

I have a Canon Rebel XSi (DSLR). I absolutely love it and when I travel, I don't mind carrying it. It takes great photos - better than any compact cameras I've owned. Plus I like to take my own portrait photos of my kids without having to pay big bucks and I can interchange lenses to do what I want.

I just bought my parents a Sony Cybershot DSC-H20/B. It's a 10.1 megapixel and has 10x digital zoom. The pictures are sharp and although it's not the most compact digital camera, it's still small enough to tuck into your purse. If I ever get a small digital, this is the one I'll buy. It's in the $250 range which is more expensive but I think it's worth it's cost.

I also agree with the poster about buying from Best Buy. I buy accessories, DVD's, CD's, video games from there, but I won't buy any expensive electronics or appliances. The big reason is they never have the best prices around and will not match online deals from other retailers. I usually buy online and get free shipping with better prices. My other piece of advice is to go to a website called cnet.com because they review products and they also tell you where the best price can be found.

I have been very pleased with Fuji finepix cameras. I think my current one is a S5200. It is flexible (all the way from completely automatic, to full manual settings.) and takes great pictures. I bought mine online from Beach Camera and video.

The downside is you cannot change lenses on it. I will admit, I have not mastered the manual settings, so night shots outside are still an issue for me, but I have made wonderful looking 8x10's from some of the pictures. (I always shoot at the highest resolution, which is around 5.2 megapixels.) I'm sure by now, they have a new model.

also, is pretty good on batteries, and takes standard AA batteries.

I also have a small Kodak and it eats batteries.

Good luck and happy snapping.

if your looking to step it up i have a sony a300 DSLR and it is AMAZING it hurt spending 600$ on it but it can take such amazing pictures and one after the other in any light... i LOVE IT.

I just bought the Xsi-looked like it took great shots and the reviews online for it were very positive, but it's good to hear that from someone who has one!

I just got a Canon ELPH and love it. I got this one:

I am used to sony cybershot, so I was amazed that you push the button and this canon actually snaps the picture right away! Plus, the auto mode is great for point and shoot, but if my dd was moving, they would come out blurry, but I discovered the kids and pets setting, and those pictures are hardly ever blurry. The lighting is not quite as good as auto, but the pics still turned out great for me.

I just got a Nikon D60 and it's the best purchase I have ever made. I love it!

Before that I had a Nikon coolpix and I really liked it too, it was cheaper because it's a point and shoot but I still carry it with me in my purse because it's so small.

Huge fan of any of the Canon PowerShot series. We've had 5 in our family so far & have loved every one.

I have a cannon sd1100. Here's a link to one like I got.

I just bought myself this camera (got it on Amazon) and so far, I'm loving it. I had a Cybershot before (they don't work after you drop them on concrete), and this one is a vast improvement, takes pictures alot quicker and less blur - just a couple of things I've noticed, I only got it today :)

We have the Sony Cyber Shot T700. Its a touch screen, it's awesome. It's so easy to use, has 4 gigs of internal memory with a slot for a Memory Stick. It takes super clear, crisp pictures with great color. It's also super easy to frame a shot, what you see on the screen is what you get. We love it! It wasn't too expensive either, we bought it last Christmas on Amazon.
